

Born in Dnipropetrovsk, Ukraine on the 7th of September, 1912 and passed away to be with our Lord on the 10th of August, 2011.
Valentyna received her education in Ukraine. She achieved a degree in architecture, specializing in building railroad lines, municipal buildings and workshops. During early years she had a productive life in USSR and later while being transported to Germany during WWII worked as a controller of cost estimation of railroad lines in Austria. Later in 1945-1948 as clerk engineer in maintenance of D.P. Camps in the U.S. Zone of Germany. Valentyna and family emigrated to the USA in 1950 where in 1956 she became a very proud US citizen. From the day she landed on the US shore she became active in the Ukrainian American Community. A dedicated member of "Dnipro" Chorus, helped organize the Ukrainian Engineering Society of America. With her journalistic abilities she produced many research articles, poems and short stories, many of which appeared in numerous Ukrainian publications. She helped organize "Ukrainian Days" at Minnehaha Park in Minneapolis and lastly, wrote a majority of articles in the church bulletin of St. George's Orthodox Church in Minneapolis. Valentyna is survived by her daughter, Inna Elliot; son, Ihor Yermolenko; grandchildren, Tanya Paulson, Chrystyna Elliot, Jennifer Watson, Roxy Elliot, Alex Yermolenko and Darcy Yermolenko; great-grandchildren, Laryssa and Arianna Paulson.

Panachyda Saturday, 10am at Sunset Funeral Home, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd. NE, Minneapolis, with visitation one hour prior.
Interment Sunset Cemetery.
