What a wonderful man! Vern always called me Kay Johnson .I have so very many precious memories of spending time with the Karkhoff family at their cabin and their home. Vern taught me to water ski. When I didn't get up and ski after many, many tries I was ready to give up, but Vern kept teaching me and with his help and perseverance I did it, and loved it. His family loved him always. He will be missed by so many. My thoughts and prayers are with all of the Karkhoff family. God bless. Love Kay (Johnson) Peterson Yates

I have many memories of all the fun times at the cabin with family and friends! We did lots of snowmobiling, water skiing, fishing and BBQs. I know being up there was Dads favorite place to be! I’m grateful after he retired he had lots of time to relax and enjoy being there. Rest In Peace Dad. We love you and will miss you.

Our dad was our protector ... My most vivid memory was our vacations in Canada. He loved outdoor adventures. We fished on Lake of the Woods and experienced fun and scary adventures. We were on the speedboat during a crazy, wild storm and he was able to save all of us..it was a miracle. Camping, boating, fishing and swimming. He shared his enthusiasm for nature! We will miss him and his passion for life❤
