Wanda was preceded in death by her parents, Rose & Melvin Veum. She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, David; children, Kari, Brent (Juli) and Krista (Ron) along with three grandchildren, 2 grand puppies and extended family and friends.
Wanda grew up in the St. Paul Midway area and graduated from Wilson High School in 1961 where she met her husband Dave. They married in 1965. After many summers visiting “the lake,” they purchased a cabin on White Bear Lake they turned into their forever home. Wanda took great pride in raising her children and being at all of the church, music and sporting events. She was "that Mom" making the buttons, blankets and anything else to help support the team.
When her children were a bit older she began working with the White Bear Lake school district helping the students with their hearing/vision tests. After White Bear Lake school district, she had the opportunity to join the St. Paul school district where she retired.
One of Wanda's favorite times was going to Maui to vacation. In their retirement, Dave and Wanda were able to enjoy a few months each year in Kiehi, Hawaii. This always provided a great backdrop for family and friends to visit during cold Minnesota winters. She was an avid reader and reminded everyone to use a bookmark. "Don’t ruin the book with a 'dog ear' by bending the page" she would always say. She appreciated good antiques, regardless of the value of them and collected a variety of items including salt & pepper shakers, Pez dispensers, dishes and nautical items. Wanda enjoyed taking an annual trip with her daughter Kari on the hunt for “treasures.” She also enjoyed visiting Laughlin, Nevada with Dave always making sure to have the “river view." In her retirement she became an avid knitter and had enough yarn to open her own store.
A private burial was held at Sunset Cemetery, Minneapolis where she was laid to rest next to her parents.
Celebration of Life will be held on Friday, May 30, 2025 at 11: 00 AM at Redeemer Lutheran Church, White Bear Lake with a visitation starting at 10:30 AM.
