

Age 94 preceded in death by his wife, Bonnie; daughter, Linda Leight; son, Michael; and great-grandson, Zachary; father, Clarence; mother Mildred; brother, Jerome. He was married for 73 years.
William will be deeply missed by children; Mary Clark (Bob); Stephanie Waite (Steve), Don (Lisa), Becky DeLong (Mark); 17 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren; many bonus grandchildren; sister-in-law Jeanne and many other relatives and friends.
After graduating from Rosevelt High School, William joined the US Navy in July 1948. He attended Recruit and Machinist Mate training at Naval Station Great Lakes, IL. After completion, he received orders to the USS Whitehurst DE 634 home ported in Green Cove Springs, FL. In February 1950 he completed service with an honorable discharge and returned home with his family.
William worked at Consolidate Freightways for over 40 years. He enjoyed family, the outdoors, hunting, property maintenance, animals especially dogs and spending time at the lake. During retirement he provided taxi services to many grandchildren for school and other activities; he also provided delivery and pickup services for a few family small businesses.
A funeral service will take place at 10:30am on Wednesday April 23, 2025 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 835 2nd Ave NW, New Brighton, MN 55112. Visitation one hour prior to mass. Interment at Sunset Cemetery, 2250 St Anthony Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55418.
