Vonnie was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on December 1, 1943, to Eugene and Doris Husted. She grew up in North Minneapolis, the neighborhood where many family members would enjoy each other's company. She would meet the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Koskinen not long after high school and were married and shared a long life together until Bob's passing in 2015.
After dedicating herself to raising her two sons, Vonnie began working for the Board of Pensions in Downtown Minneapolis, where she spent many fulfilling years before she and Bob eventually retired to Shoreview.
Vonnie lived life with a vibrant spirit and enjoyed simple pleasures. She and Bob loved traveling to Disney World, spending sunny days at Lake Owasso, tending to their garden, and enjoying lively weekends out on the town with family and friends. In quieter moments, she could be found reading a good book and catching up on her favorite soap operas. In her later years, Vonnie found a welcoming and loving place in the home of her son, Dan, and his wife, Kellie. Living at the lake house brought her peace and daily joy. She became the official neighborhood watch, happily keeping an eye on the passing birds, pelicans, and neighbors from the comfort of their home. Though her final months included difficult hospital stays, her passing was closure to a happy life.
Vonnie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert "Bob" Koskinen; her parents, Eugene and Doris Husted; her brother, Fred; and many close friends and family members.
She is survived by her two sons, Dan (Kellie) Koskinen and Shannon Koskinen, and her grandson, Kai Koskinen, great grandchildren Sophia, Ellie, and Arthur, alongside extended family members and many lifelong friends who will carry her memory in their hearts.
A memorial service celebrating Vonnie's life will take place on Saturday, September 19, 2026 at 12:00 pm with a visitation beginning at 11:00 am at Sunset Kapala Glodek Funeral Home and Cemetery, 2250 St. Anthony Blvd, Minneapolis, MN 55418
