After graduating, she attended Success College in Winnipeg, Manitoba and then worked at United Grain Growers as a comptometrist. She married Bruce Croft on July 31, 1964. It was there in Winnipeg where their two children, Landin and Nadine, were born. In 1972, the young family of four moved to British Columbia. While residing in Ruskin, Claire worked as a teacher’s aid at Webster’s Corner Elementary. The family moved to Surrey in 1979 and Claire joined the team at Williams Moving and Storage, where she worked as a Corporate Sales Coordinator for 30 years until her retirement. She lived in Mission for some time and then spent her remaining years in Abbotsford, playing cribbage daily, enjoying meals out at her favourite restaurants, and embarking on many road trips around B.C. with her partner, John Venema.
Claire will be lovingly remembered by her son Landin and daughter Nadine Luteijn (Kim); grandchildren, Carly and Lilah Croft and Cassidy and Anika Luteijn; two great-grandchildren, Summer and Juliette Hutton; sisters, Carol Ross and Cheryl Schiebler; and nieces, Jacenta, Deana, Ashley and Whitney; and nephews, Brad, Curtis, Kyle, and Ryan.
