

Glen Clifford Metcalf, born on May 16, 1929, in Portage la Prairie, Manitoba, to Clifford John Metcalfe and Florence Mae Metcalfe, was a man who lived a full and remarkable life. His journey began in the heart of Manitoba, and over the years, he touched the lives of many with his kindness, wisdom, and warmth.
Glen leaves to mourn his wife Evelyn (Stinson), his son Grant (Linda), his son Cameron (Mary Rose), his daughter Mary Ann, and grandsons Eric, Scott, and Christopher. His memory will live on in the stories and hearts of all who knew him.
Glen's early years in Portage la Prairie were marked by the values instilled by his parents. He had a loving family, including his sister Lois Emmanuel. Tragically, he lost his two brothers in infancy, a profound loss that shaped his compassionate nature. Glen's life was a testament to hard work and perseverance. He purchased his grandfather's farm, built in the late 1800s, and transformed it into one of the premiere grain and sugar beet farms in the area. His dedication and innovation made him a respected figure in the agricultural community. Beyond farming, Glen also purchased and ran the Massey Ferguson Equipment dealership in Portage la Prairie, contributing to the local economy and supporting fellow farmers with quality equipment. Glen was an integral figure in the planning and development of the Portage La Prairie Fort La Reine Museum, preserving and celebrating the region’s history. He was also actively involved in the Chamber of Commerce, demonstrating his commitment to community and local business. In 1979, Glen's adventurous spirit led him into the mining industry, prompting a move to British Columbia. The family settled in Coquitlam, where they lived for many years. In his later years, Glen operated a successful concrete overlay company, showcasing his entrepreneurial skills and determination. Ultimately, he retired in Chilliwack, BC, finding peace and contentment in the beautiful surroundings.
Glen's legacy is one of compassion, generosity, and unwavering strength. He will be remembered for his ability to bring people together and for the countless moments of joy and laughter he shared with those fortunate enough to know him.
