Mom was born on Dec.15, 1941 in Trail B.C. to Melvin and Florence Sadler (nee: Young), a little sister for her beloved big brother William (Bill).
Growing up in the West Kootenays, Janet developed a love for sports: tennis, badminton, skating, skiing and dance... Mom loved to line dance! The great outdoors of our beautiful province always held a special place in Janets heart whether it be beachcombing at Pacific Rim Park and Kilby Provincial Park, or enjoying many family fishing adventures at "the cabin" in Balfour on Kootenay Lake, where many games of cards were played and countless fishing fables told. Where family gathered, Jan could be found.....
Mom also loved to "putts" in her little garden. She particularly loved roses and lilacs, and all winged creatures, great and small, were welcome. The butterflies and hummingbirds brought her great joy and delight, as did all of the amazing garden treasures her son Chris created for her. Among Janet's many gifts were her culinary skills; from her "fall fair" winning apple & pear pies, to her perfect butter tarts and fail-safe Yorkshire puddings, she nurtured many a satisfied tummy. No-one wanted to miss a Sunday "family feast" at Grama Jans!
Janet spent the majority of her professional life working for the Solicitor General's Dept., Corrections Branch. She worked tirelessly to support and raise her three children in their family home in Mission.
Of all Janet's "loves in life" her family and her home (her sanctuary) brought her the greatest happiness and sense of purpose. Jan was fiercely loyal to her clan, whether you were an immediate, close member, or a distant cousin, she went above and beyond to keep in touch and welcomed company in her home with open arms and generous heart. Her kindness, humour and generosity of spirit charmed all who had the privilege of knowing her. Her bright light will continue to shine on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Janet is survived by her loving children: Christopher (Mandy), Terra-Lee (Brian) and her seven precious grandchildren: Christina, Kyle, Curtis, Tessa (Shawn). Jennifer (Brendan), Bobby (Brandi) and Fraser.
"GG" was also blessed with seven great grandchildren: Tobias, Cooper, Kennedi, Tyson, Miranda, Jayden and Rose. Also left to mourn Jan is her brother Bill and Family, and many cousins/friends on the West Kootenay branch of her family tree.
Janet was predeceased by her parents Mel and Flo, her son Curtis, her sister-in-law Linda and her beloved Aunty Madge.
A celebration of Grama Jan's life will be held April 30th, 2021 @2:00pm via video link. Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements.
Donations in Janets memory may be made to Christine Morrison Hospice, Mission B.C. or the B.C. Cancer Society.
"Some people appear in your life when you need them the most.
They love you and lift you up, reminding you of the best, even when
you are going through the worst. These folks are not just friends,
they are Earth Angels".
~ A. Taylor
Through the sweet, and through the bitter, our mom lived her life so very well. She wove her love and her strength into a fine family tapestry that will be treasured forever and for always.
