May 27, 1942 - November 26, 2022
“She had a kind heart”
It is with sadness that we share the news of Linda’s passing on November 26, 2022 surrounded by family.
She is survived by her loving husband Bryan, son John (Rebecca), grandchildren Joshua and Bethani, and her daughter Bryana (Steven).
Linda was born in Vancouver, BC on May 27, 1942 to John and Bea Allen. In the early years they lived in a number of towns and logging camps across BC. When Linda was in high school, her dad decided it was time to put down roots so they bought a house in Maple Ridge, BC, where the family continue to live.
While working as a psych nurse at Woodlands School she met her now husband Bryan. They married in 1967 and moved to Campbell River, BC to start their life together.
They started out in a small trailer with their first baby, their pomeranian, Coby.
With the addition of son John, they upgraded to a 12’x 55’ mobile home. Finally, with the addition of their daughter Bryana, they upgraded to a house. There were sleepless nights as they worried about making their mortgage payment of $150 a month.
Eventually, in 1976, they moved back to Bryan’s hometown of Mission and here they have remained.
Throughout her working years Linda was a psych nurse, worked in the prison system, was a preschool teacher, and worked as a student aid for School District 75 Mission. She had many different titles but the thread was always the same; care and service to others.
Although she was an only child, Linda created family everywhere she went. She was passionate about her family and community, the environment, and experiencing life to its fullest.
Linda loved to be a part of things, to help, to support, and to encourage. She spent many years in Scouts Canada. She started out as a founding leader for the first experimental all-girl beaver group and moved on to hold a position as a regional trainer and many other titles over the years. She stayed active in Scouting well after her kids, and even her grandkids, had completed the program, and was still helping until just a few years ago.
As her kids grew up and Linda had more time on her hands she began to explore her spirituality in all its forms. This lead her to study healing touch, life-skills coaching, and spiritual guidance to name a few.
Her life was also enriched by membership in the Mission Friendship Center where she found a wonderful sense of belonging. She was learning drumming, took language classes, practiced finger weaving and beading, made her own drum and took part in many other activities with her friends at the Center.
The Christine Morrison Hospice society was also a natural fit for Linda. She volunteered with them for 15 years and loved being a part of this valuable organization. She felt blessed to have the opportunity to provide support for both the individual and the family in their time of need.
She was known by many names including Linda, Nin, Mom, Grandma, Rainbow, Linda B, Mrs. B, and Bouchir, but whatever you called her, it always meant friend.
A memorial service was held on December 12, 2022 at St. Andrew’s United Church in Mission.
The family look forward to reading about your memories, experiences and photos with Linda through your submission to a book of condolences at dignitymemorial.com .
