With great sadness, after a long brave battle with vascular dementia, the family of Marie Margaret Mitchell announce her passing on March 17, 2026 at Mayfair Senior Living and Care Abbotsford British Columbia, at the age of 83.
Marie was born in Portland Oregon on November 18, 1942, and relocated to Vancouver BC with her family at the age of 3, where she and her Mother acquired Canadian/Dual citizenship and lived her life in the lower mainland. She was a straight ‘A’ student all through school and CFO for the family business, and Homemaker. She enjoyed reading, researching, traveling, and tending to the needs of those she loved, her gardening, her cats, and old time Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by her Sister Patricia, son Cam and his wife Lise, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and lifetime friends.
She was predeceased by her loving Husband of 63 years Mark Mitchell, both of her Parents Dr. Fred Loffler and Dr. Evelyn Loffler, her brother Victor, her dear and close Uncle and Aunt Rudy and Ruth Loffler, and many of her cousins.
Marie wanted to see people on their terms, not hers, and be remembered as the person she was before she was robbed from her identity, and requested no service to be held.
The family wish to thank Fraser Health, all the Doctors, Nurses, Care Aids, Technicians, Volunteers, support animals, and staff at The Mayfair, and the all the good people at Dignity Memorial and Woodlawn Mission Funeral Home, for the loving care she received.
Memorial donations may be made on her behalf to Dementia and Alzheimer’s Research or any organization that gives support to loved ones who are caring for victims of this disease, your local library, or SPCA
