Michael Martin

With sadness, the family of Michael (Mike) Martin announce that he passed away in his sleep on March 31st, 2025, at Ridge Meadows Hospital in Maple Ridge at the age of 78 after a battle with pancreatic and stomach cancer. A resident of Mission for over fifty years, Michael was celebrated in his community for his kindness and sense of humour. He was a life-long youth worker who cared for everyone, from his closest family members to those in the community who needed support and kindness. He was passionate about music and sports. He is predeceased by his parents Hugh and Hilda Martin and his brothers Bob, Doug, and Tony.

Mike’s family settled on Vancouver Island in the early 1950s. Mike grew up in Duncan where he met the love of his life, Eileen Joyce, in high school. They married in 1971 before settling in Mission.

He will be lovingly remembered by Eileen, his three children Daniel (Allison) Martin, Melissa (Steve) Henderson, and Gloria Williams, his grandchildren Rachel, Graham, Brendan, Stephanie, and Nikki, his extended family Don, Ann, Tom, and Tanya Tranter, and many lifelong friends.

A funeral and reception will be held on Thursday April 10, 2025, at 11 am at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Mission.

A prayer vigil will be held at Woodlawn Funeral Home in Mission at 5:30 pm on Wednesday April 9, 2025.
