Maria Christina, 91 of Modesto, California passed away very peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 9th. She was born the 5th of May 1924 in El Paso, Texas to the late Jose and Severa Aguirre Gonzalez. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Beatriz Gonzalez Dockstader and Martha Gonzalez Maynes.
Christina is survived by her daughters Gloria Murphy (George), Martha Banner, Yolanda Palmer, Virginia Duncan, ten grandchildren, and fifteen great-grandchildren. They love and treasure her profoundly for she leaves them a legacy of faith, hope and a great love for the Lord and his Blessed Mother. These virtues were manifested in the immense joy that made her the person she was. She was lively and vivacious with a mischievous, playful sparkle in her eye and with an infectious laugh that made people want to be near her. A day would not go by without singing or dancing. Even at 91 years of age, we would catch her in front of the kitchen sink doing a little Mexican dance.
We will miss you dear mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, but we will find consolation in remembering that from the moment we enter this world, we are all destined for eternal life.
The Vigil will be on January 22nd from 5 to 9 p.m. with the rosary at 7p.m. at Mission Hills Mortuary, 11160 Stranwood Ave Mission Hills, Calif. The Funeral Mass will be on January 23rd at 11:00 a.m. at the same location.
In lieu of customary remembrances, if you so choose, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions in Christina’s honor be directed to The Sisters of the Cross, 1320 Maze Blvd, Modesto, California 95351
