Jacqueline Josephine Cordola was born in Amsterdam, New York on Sept 1st 1941. At the age of 9 her family moved across country to Los Angeles, California where she would grow into the most loving, faithful woman imaginable. After graduating in 1957 from Birmingham High school in Van Nuys, she attended Los Angeles City College where she received an Associate’s degree in nursing. She then continued her education obtaining her Bachelor’s in nursing from San Fernando Valley State College (now CSUN). She began her career working as a Registered Nurse on the medical/surgical unit at Valley Presbyterian Hospital where she would nurture those who needed her most. A broken marble table and her aunt with an eye for a good match brought Jackie and her beloved Amedeo together. They would marry in 1967 at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church and would have 3 beautiful children. Jackie then left her career at the hospital to care for her growing family and would become very involved in her children’s school as well as the family business. She wore many hats: financial advisor, school nurse, substitute teacher, entrepreneur, room mother, even “hot dog lady.” To all who knew her, Jackie was an elegant, graceful and brilliant woman of limitless faith in God. She was a long-time parishioner of St. Genevieve’s Catholic Church in Panorama City and then later at St. Kateri Tekakwitha Catholic Church in Santa Clarita. Given the prosperity that she and Amedeo had achieved in their life together, Jackie remained humble in the sight of God, charitable and generous in her dealings and had infinite compassion for the less fortunate. In everything she did and said, she exuded the light of Christ. Jacqueline understood that love of family is the greatest of God’s blessings. While her children were her purpose, her 5 grandchildren are her legacy. She was, and will remain, a devoted mother and doting Nonna. She showed her boundless love in a myriad of ways; through her delicious cooking (we’ll miss her focaccia and meatballs most), an evening phone call just to say she’s thinking of you, and in her continual prayers for our health and comfort. A visit with Jackie was always marked by good conversation and lots of laughter. When it was time to part company, we’d exchange Italian kisses (a kiss on each cheek) and an “I love you.” Her response was always, “I love you MORE.” This woman that we loved so deeply left us Friday evening, November 18th (her father’s birthday) at her home in Valencia, CA. She was surrounded by the people she loved most and, in true Jackie fashion, had the grace to let all but her children and few others say good-bye before she took her last breath. She was, no doubt, ushered into paradise by those that went before her; lead by her beloved husband Amedeo, niece Marisa Covella, nephew Robert Nelson and her dear parents James and Carmella “Clara” Inglese. She is survived by her 3 children; Rocco, James Joseph and Marisa, 5 grandchildren; Anthony Amedeo, Jessica Rose, Amedeo James, Joseph Michael, and Sierra Marie, her sisters; Mary Elizabeth York and Georgiann Rieger, two aunts, countless nieces, nephews, cousins, godchildren and friends who all love her more than words can express. Remember Jackie in your prayers, when you cook for your family and when you greet and part from those you love with Italian kisses. Visitation for Jacqueline Josephine Cordola will be held on Sunday, November 27, 2016 from 10:30am -2:30pm with praying of the rosary scheduled for noon at Mission Hills Catholic Mortuary in Mission Hills, CA. Funeral mass will be held Monday, November 28, 2016 at 11:00am at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Panorama City, CA with internment directly to following at San Fernando Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers and in honor of Jackie’s immense love for children and her faith, the family invites you to donate to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or to your favorite Catholic charity in her name.
