Maria Salome Nombrepia Miclat was born in the Philippines, in the province of Lucban, Quezon, on October 22, 1935. In her early twenties, together with her Aunt, she moved to Olongapo City, where she met and married Blas A. Miclat on January 31, 1960. Her first born was Maria Rossana, followed by four more children namely, Rolando, Dalisay, Ricardo and Noel. She has six grandchildren and one more on the way. She was a very ordinary person who seemed content to live a quiet life, who loved to plant fruit bearing trees and flowers and loved cooking. A very simple, loving, generous and caring wife, mother and grandmother. As a tribute to Tatay & Nanay, their theme song, “Smile”, would always be a reminder for us:
Smile though your heart is aching
Smile even though it’s breaking
When there are clouds in the sky,
you’ll get by If you smile
through your fear and sorrow
Smile and maybe tomorrow
You’ll see the sun come
shining through for you.
Light up your face with gladness
Hide every trace of sadness
Although a tear may be ever so near
That’s the time you must keep on trying
Smile, what’s the use of crying?
You’ll find that life is still worthwhile
If you just smile.
Thank you Nanay for everything, you will always be in our hearts.
