Alyssa Gabrielle Loya

Alyssa graced us with her presence at McAllen Medical Center on November 10, 1990. She went on to command the halls of Alvarez Elementary, Lincoln Middle School, and James Nikki Rowe High School before becoming a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s in government with a minor in English.

Alyssa began her career as an elementary school and primary school educator in Austin, TX before making a career transition to court room reporting. She spent the end of her career doing what she loved: listening to other peoples’ business.

Alyssa was full of life and laughter. She moved with confidence and was determined to bring confidence out of others. She held firm to her opinions, stood strong in the face of a lively debate, and never had issues telling someone “I told you so”. She loved celebrating others and loved to be celebrated.

She was an avid reader, a horror cinephile, a lover of the arts, a hospitable hostess, a passionate cook and baker, a creator of holiday magic, a collector of food shaped tchotchkes, an admirer of Harry Styles, and a cheater at the game Sorry. Above all she was a deeply devoted daughter, sister, and friend.

She is preceded in death by her father Hector Loya, her maternal grandparents Manuel F. Calderon and Maria Marta Calderon, and her paternal grandparents Gabriel Loya and Odilia Loya,

Left to cherish her memory are her mother Silvia C. Loya, brothers Christopher Daniel Loya, Hector Javier Loya, sister Debra Denise Loya, her nieces Chloe Loya, Madison Thomas, and her nephews Christopher Daniel Loya II, Tyler Thomas, and countless aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
