My heartfelt sympathy to ALL of Armando's loved ones. We spent time at Sacred Heart together. It would've been lovely to have shared current moments. Time flies. My best to those I remember of most of his siblings..Anthony and Rosie. Peace and comfort to all. Lucy Pérez-Dunn.

My deepest condolences to the Contreras family. Armando and I met after he graduated from the Police Academy. This was during the period when new officers wore kaki uniforms until it was determined they were ready to be on their own. I was Armando's training officer, for the entire period, until he earned his "Blues".  Armando learned his police duties quickly. He was always cheerful and professional. Years later, we would again work together in Personnel & Training where he was a Background Investigator. And then in the Criminal Investigation Bureau where he was a Juvenile Investigator. Investigator Armando Contreras always performed his investigations in a professional manner.  The Contreras family can be proud of Investigator Armando Contreras' service to the citizens of McAllen and the McAllen Police Department.

May the Lord welcome Armando and always watch over and protect his family.

We like to express our condolences to  the Contreras family from the DeLeon family. Mario was a  kind and helpful neighbor that was always willing to lending a helping  hand as needed.

I will always remember you, Armando, as my next door neighbor, always friendly and saying hello throughout the years growing up.  Also, in the hallways of McHi, as an officer.  It was nice visiting with you a few months ago.  Rest in Peace, Mr. Contreras.  My condolences to your wonderful family.

A great police officer who was full of laughter and hope to those who were down on their luck or just having a bad day. Mando inspired to bring out the good from any person or any bad situation. He had a special way of turning a bad situation  into a positive one. I always wonder how he could keep a cool head even on the worst matters he encountered. I enjoyed working with Mando at the PD for many years and especially in our last years with the Airport Police  Unit. I believe our Lord and Savior needed another guardian angel in heaven to bring peace to those needing help. 

I worked alongside Armando at  McAllen police department and I can say that I never heard him say a negative thing about anyone and I never heard anyone say a negative thing about him or his great work as an officer or a man. A fun thing to remember when he worked in  the juvenile department was when  somehow a twelve to thirteen foot Christmas tree looking marijuana plant was growing next to the west side of the building. It was not Mandy’s but it was used as a teaching tool for parents to identify in case they saw it growing at their homes.  Those days when we were young were great and thank God for helping keep us and citizens safe. Once our bodies are done our spirits will all unite in peaceful rest. Gods love and peace be with you all.

Mando was a good friend for many years and we enjoyed many good times together.  He was always willing to help when needed and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  

Met Mando when I worked at McAllen PD in records and he worked with Bobby for many years as officers.  I will always remember when Mando was working police security at our wedding and he handcuffed us and said he didn’t have the key. Many laughs and memories. May you Rest In Eternal Peace dear friend 🙏🙏🙏❤️

Worked with Mando at McAllen PD.  Outstanding Officer and kind human being .   Was a priveledge to have known him and he will be missed by all .   Rest well old friend.  

I was fortunate to have worked with Armando at McAllen P.D. He was the epitome of a wonderful man. Condolences to the family in his loss.

I learned today after work that you had passed. My stomach felt sick and my heart heavy and still. I hadn’t seen you in years but had heard you weren’t well. I prayed every night that your health would improve. 
Today only told me that God was ready for you. I’ll never forget our wonderful memories, good and bad. We were so young and our first emotions of what we thought were love and so real. God bless you dear friend, rest in peace. You will never be forgotten. Someday we’ll rejoin and reminisce together of what we seemed to believe would last forever. I won’t ever question our Almighty God   “Why?” but instead will thank him  for having placed you in my life.  I loved you then and will continue to love you always. Judy E.

   What can I say other than thank you for being a good neighbor and Friend. You took me on my first hunting trip and you taught me how to be a better person.

My deepest heartfelt condolences to all the Contreras family. As I  reminisce, wonderful memories of growing up with family gatherings and visits arise. I vividly remember his contagious smile. I pray "Mando" is resting in peace in God's embrace.  To his daughters,  grandchildren and Rita, I  pray God and your loving memories comfort you and give you peace  to face the difficult days ahead.

To the Contreras family, my prayers are with you in your time of need.  Take comfort in knowing that he (Mandito)is in a better place now, free from pain and suffering. Mandito (as I used to call him) and I served as altar boys at Sacred Heart Catholic Church (downtown) during the 60s.
