Catalina Trevino was a woman whose life was defined by love, generosity, hard work, and a heart that always made room for others. She had a special way of making people feel welcome, heard, and cared for. Whether through a thoughtful gesture, a warm conversation, a shared meal, or simply taking the time to sit with someone who needed company, Catalina gave of herself freely and wholeheartedly. Her life was a beautiful reflection of kindness, strength, and the importance of caring for one another.
Born to Enrique Cantu and Antonia Garcia, Catalina built a life rooted in family, determination, and compassion. She was a proud mother, grandmother, sister, and friend who treasured the people she loved. Her children and grandchildren were among her greatest joys, and she took immense pride in watching them grow and create lives of their own. Her love for her family was steady and enduring, and the lessons she taught through her example will continue to live on in the generations that follow her.
Catalina was a hardworking and accomplished woman who spent 60 remarkable years as an Avon representative. What began as a career in sales grew into an impressive journey that led her to an executive position. Along the way, she helped train, guide, and mentor countless women, sharing her knowledge and encouraging others to find their own success. She was more than a businesswoman; she was a source of inspiration to those who worked alongside her, demonstrating what dedication, perseverance, and believing in yourself could accomplish.
Her talents extended well beyond sales. Catalina was also an accountant and bookkeeper with an extraordinary gift for mathematics. Numbers came naturally to her, and her sharp mind, intelligence, and attention to detail made her exceptional at what she did. She was resourceful, capable, and determined, always willing to put in the work necessary to get things done.
Yet, for all her accomplishments, Catalina's greatest gift may have been the way she cared for others. She was a big giver with a generous spirit and a kind heart. She would take food to people who needed it, sit and talk with those who felt alone, and offer a listening ear without judgment. People trusted her with their thoughts, worries, and secrets because they knew she genuinely cared. She had a gift for making others feel safe enough to open their hearts. Her generosity was not about recognition; it came naturally to her. Helping people was simply part of who she was.
Catalina was also a social woman who believed in showing up and making the most of life. She enjoyed looking her best and was always put together, carrying herself with confidence and style. She loved traveling, shopping, gambling, and experiencing new things. She had a sense of adventure and a curiosity about the world that kept life interesting. Whether she was exploring somewhere new, enjoying a little excitement, or visiting with friends and loved ones, Catalina knew how to appreciate the moments that made life special.
And through life's ups and downs, she carried a simple message that captured her spirit: “Don't worry, be happy.” Those words were more than a saying; they were a reminder to let go of unnecessary worries, enjoy the present, and find happiness wherever it could be found. It was a philosophy that reflected her ability to keep moving forward, embrace life's experiences, and encourage others to do the same.
Catalina is survived by her beloved children: Irma Jense (William), Irasema Cobos (Ruben), Isela Almaguer (Dante), and Enrique Trevino (Efrica). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren, Bryan, Jeremy, Chauncy, Kendra, Alesi, Joziah, and Jurnee; her great-grandchildren, Jason and Troy; and her sibling, Jesse Garza. Each of them carries a piece of her love, her strength, and the memories that will forever connect them to her.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Enrique Cantu and Antonia Garcia, and her brother, Efrain Cantu.
Though Catalina's passing leaves a space that can never truly be filled, her legacy remains in the lives she touched, the women she mentored, the people she helped, and the family she loved so dearly. It lives on in the conversations people will remember, the kindnesses she showed, the wisdom she shared, and the laughter and memories that will be treasured for years to come.
Catalina's life reminds us that success is not measured only by what we accomplish, but also by how we treat others along the way. She worked hard, loved deeply, gave generously, and made people feel that they mattered. Her presence was a gift, her heart was her greatest treasure, and her influence will continue to be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
As family and friends remember Catalina, may they find comfort in knowing that the love she gave so freely will never disappear. It will live on in her children and grandchildren, in the people she helped throughout her life, and in every act of kindness inspired by her example.
Rest peacefully, Catalina. You lived a life of purpose, generosity, and love. May your family carry your strength in their hearts, may your memories bring smiles through the tears, and may your beautiful spirit continue to remind us all to cherish one another, enjoy life's journey, and, just as you always said, don't worry, be happy.
