With heavy hearts and deep love, we announce the passing of a devoted wife, of our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Cecilia Alonzo Garcia, left this world on February 28, 2026, at the age of 77.

Cecilia was a woman whose greatest joy in life was the time she spent with those she loved. She cherished her husband and family above all else and found her happiest moments surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Being a loving wife, she and her husband did everything together-always choosing to dance, listen to music or walk through life always hand in hand. She lovingly called him “Honey”, a simple but tender term that reflected warmth, affection, and the deep bond they shared that only grew with time. Their love was steady, devoted, and full of strength. Her husband adored her deeply and showed his love not only in words, but in thoughtful acts year after year. Every Valentine’s Day, without fail, he brought her a red box of chocolates-a sweet tradition that became their symbol of their enduring love. He never missed a year. It was a simple gesture, but one that spoke volumes about the care, devotion, and romance they shared. Being a grandmother was also one of her proudest blessings-her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the light of her life, and she never missed an opportunity to celebrate their accomplishments, share stories, or simply hold them close.

She had a beautiful spirit of adventure and loved to travel with her husband, Refugio. Whether near or far, she embraced every journey with excitement and gratitude, creating treasured memories along the way. From family trips to spontaneous getaways, she believed the best souvenirs were the moments shared together.

Cecilia also had a gift for friendship. She loved visiting, talking for hours, laughing loudly, listening to music and making everyone feel welcome. Her home and her heart were always open. She had a way of making people be seen, heard, and valued- a rare and precious quality that will never be forgotten.

Her kindness, warmth, strength, and unwavering love will live on in the lives she touched. Though we will miss her deeply, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy of love, faith, laughter, and family will continue through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, extended family and friends and all who were blessed to know her.

She is survived by her beloved mother, Adelina Peña, her loving husband of 57 years, Refugio G. Garcia. His children, Edward (Judith) Garcia, Richard Garcia (Blanche Davey), William Garcia, Marizela (Israel) Linares and Jimmy Garcia; Nietos, Israel (Samantha) Linares, Fernando Tovar, Jessica (Anthony) Henandez, Emil Garcia, Marissa Linares, Jennifer Garcia, Edward Garcia, Jimmy Garcia Jr. and Sofia Garcia; 2 great-grandchildren, Eden and Israel

Linares IV and a baby great-grandson on the way; 2 sisters Hellen (Juan) Castro, Marie Guadalupe Valdez, Angelita Alonso, and Rose Peña (Juvenal Flores); brothers, Daniel (Rita) Peña, and Gabriel Peña.

She was preceded in death by her brothers, Johnny Peña, Eduardo Peña, Ernesto Peña, David Peña, Mariano Peña, Joe Hector Peña, Juan Peña, Jr. and sister, Hermelinda Reyna.

Cecilia also had many nieces and nephews, as well as special friends and extended family that loved her dearly.

Con el corazón pesado y un amor profundo, anunciamos el fallecimiento de una esposa devota, de nuestra querida madre, abuela, bisabuela y amiga. Cecilia Alonzo Garcia dejó este mundo el 28 de Febrero de 2026, a los 77 años.

Cecilia era una mujer cuya mayor alegría en la vida era el tiempo que pasaba con quienes amaba. Valoraba a su marido y a su familia por encima de todo, y encontraba sus momentos más felices rodeada de sus hijos, nietos y bisnietos. Siendo una esposa amorosa, ella y su marido lo hacían todo juntos: siempre eligiendo bailar, escuchar música o caminar por la vida siempre de la mano. Ella le llamaba cariñosamente "Honey", un término simple pero tierno que reflejaba calidez, afecto y el profundo vínculo que compartían y que solo crecía con el tiempo. Su amor era constante, devoto y lleno de fuerza. Su marido la adoraba profundamente y mostraba su amor no solo con palabras, sino con gestos considerados año tras año. Cada Día de San Valentín, sin falta, le traía una caja roja de chocolates, una dulce tradición que se convirtió en su símbolo de su amor duradero. Nunca faltó un año. Era un gesto sencillo, pero que decía mucho sobre el cuidado, la devoción y el romance que compartían. Ser abuela también fue una de sus bendiciones de las que más se enorgullece: sus nietos y bisnietos fueron la luz de su vida, y nunca perdió la oportunidad de celebrar sus logros, compartir historias o simplemente abrazarlos con fuerza.

Tenía un espíritu aventurero y le encantaba viajar con su marido, Refugio. Fuera cerca o lejos, abrazaba cada viaje con emoción y gratitud, creando recuerdos valiosos en el camino. Desde viajes familiares hasta escapadas espontáneas, creía que los mejores recuerdos eran los momentos compartidos juntos.

Cecilia también tenía un don para la amistad. Le encantaba visitar, hablar durante horas, reír a carcajadas, escuchar música y hacer que todos se sintieran bienvenidos. Su hogar y su corazón siempre estaban abiertos. Tenía una forma de hacer que la gente fuera vista, escuchada y valorada, una cualidad rara y valiosa que nunca será olvidada.

Su amabilidad, calidez, fortaleza y amor inquebrantable vivirán en las vidas que tocó. Aunque la echaremos mucho de menos, encontramos consuelo en saber que su legado de amor, fe, risas y familia continuará a través de sus hijos, nietos, bisnietos, familia extensa, amigos y todos los que tuvieron la suerte de conocerla.

Le sobrevive su querida madre, Adelina Peña, su querido esposo durante 57 años, Refugio G. García. Sus hijos, Edward (Judith) Garcia, Richard Garcia (Blanche Davey), William Garcia, Marizela (Israel) Linares y Jimmy Garcia; Nietos, Israel (Samantha) Linares, Fernando Tovar, Jessica (Anthony) Henandez, Emil Garcia, Marissa Linares, Jennifer Garcia, Edward Garcia, Jimmy Garcia Jr. y Sofia Garcia; 2 bisnietos, Eden y Israel Linares IV y un bisnieto bebé en camino.; 2 hermanas Hellen (Juan) Castro, Marie Guadalupe Valdez, Angelita Alonso, y Rose Peña (Juvenal Flores); hermanos, Daniel (Rita) Peña, y Gabriel Peña.

Cecilia también tenía muchos sobrinos y sobrinas, así como amigos especiales y familia extensa que la querían profundamente.

Le precedieron en la muerte sus hermanos Johnny Peña, Eduardo Peña, Ernesto Peña, David Peña, Mariano Peña, Joe Héctor Peña, Juan Peña, Jr. y su hermana Hermelinda Reyna.

Burial will be at Valley Memorial Gardens, 3605 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas 78572, US, on March 6, 2026, at 11:00 am, and a Catering event will be held at Funeraria Del Angel, 3611 North Taylor Road, Mission, Texas 78573, at 12:00 pm.
