Georgia Townsend, 87, passed away peacefully at her home, June 22,2018
in McAllen, Texas, after complications of her stroke on October 5, 2016. She was born November 10, 1930 in Edinburg.
The youngest of nine children and was the last surviving child of Frank and Mary Krska. Georgia graduated from Edinburg High School in 1948. Georgia married her soul mate, Alfred Townsend on February 10, 1949. They made their home on Taylor Road in Mcallen, and lovingly raised five children. Alfred and Georgia celebrated their 50th Anniversary in February 1999; Alfred passed away November 15,1999. Georgia dedicated her life to her husband, children and grand children with the Love of Jesus Christ in her Heart and Soul.
Survivors include: Mary Virginia(Ted) Gerlach of Mission, Helen (Mark) Dickerson of Mission, and Lynette (Randy) Morris of McAllen and son Lawrence Townsend of Mission.
Grandchildren: Brian (Cori) Gerlach of Mission, Jeff (Jene’) Gerlach of Austin, Scott (Marissa) Gerlach of Mission, Justin Carkenord of Pharr, Lexi Carkenord of Dallas , Evan (Courtney) Dickerson of Austin, Griffin (Marissa) Dickerson of Jacksonville, Florida, Jill (Patrick) Bason of Lubbock, Texas, and Regina Morris of McAllen.
Great Grandchildren: Kaylee Seahorn of Mission, Weston Seahorn of Ozona, Makenzie Gerlach & Brett Gerlach of Mission, Kyle & Zachary Gerlach of Mission, Reuben & Taylor Gerlach of Austin , Sienna & Mya Carkenord of Dallas, and Alan Dickerson of Jacksonville, FL.
Preceded in death by her husband, Alfred Townsend, her daughter Jeanean Carkenord, her parents, Frank and Mary Krska , and siblings: Marie, Helen, Lucille, Francis, Ernest, Leonard, Lillian, and Irene.
A most special and humble thanks and gratitude to the Care Givers who treated Georgia with the utmost love, care and respect the last year and half of her life on Earth. They are: Regina Morris (Grand daughter), Mary Lopez, Vicki Davidson, Dora Lopez , Jodi, Olivia and all who touched Mom’s tender life. May God Bless You All!

Visitation will be Tuesday, June 26, 2018 from 5:00-8:00pm with the Rosary recited at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Remembrance, 3611 N Taylor Rd Mission, TX 78573.
Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at 2:00pm at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 1108 W Hackberry Ave, Mcallen, TX 78501. Burial will follow at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
