Graciela O Valdez

Graciela Valdez, 73, of McAllen, Texas, passed away peacefully on November 10, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 6, 1952, to Aurelio Obregón and Timotea González, Graciela lived a full and vibrant life rooted in love, hard work, and compassion for others.

Graciela married the love of her life, Arturo Valdez, and together they shared 50 wonderful years of marriage. Their union was blessed with five children: Javier Rodriguez (Sandra), Tea Valdez (Jesse Garza), Dalinda Valdez, Jessica Valdez, and Stephanie Valdez. She was a devoted and proud grandmother to Justine Rodriguez, Jenisa Navarro, Jenna Rodriguez, Rebecca Rivas, Kylie Granados, James Valdez, Kimberly Lopez, Justin Garza, and Zeida Hussain.

Graciela is also survived by her beloved father, Aurelio Obregón, her sister Norma Obregón, and her brother Juan Gilberto Obregón. She also leaves behind a beloved family friend Miguel Gonzalez. She is preceded in death by her mother, Timotea González, and her brother, Oscar Obregón.

A woman of incredible strength and independence, Graciela lived fearlessly and with great purpose. She had a lifelong passion for the land—she was a dedicated rancher who loved her cattle, and she found peace and joy in her gardens. She was also an avid collector of rocks and crystals, drawn to the natural beauty and energy of the earth.

Professionally, Graciela built an impressive career as a Risk Manager at Rio Grande Regional Hospital in McAllen, where she retired after years of dedicated service. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she was also the President of the RGV Beefmaster Association, where she made lasting contributions to the ranching community.

Graciela will be remembered as compassionate, loving, and endlessly resilient—a woman whose strength inspired everyone around her. Her kindness, humor, and unwavering spirit will live on through the family she cherished and the countless lives she touched.

Her legacy of love, courage, and compassion will continue to bloom in the hearts of all who knew her.
