

It is with immense sadness that we announce the passing of Jesus Pruneda Marichalar (Chuy), main vocalist and bajo sexto of el grupo norteño Los Leones del Norte, who left us on November 3rd, 2025 at the age of 69. Chuy was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. His presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him and those who were touched by his music and distinguished voice.
Jesus was born on June 23, 1956 in Ridley, CA. Jesus Pruneda Marichalar was born to Jose and Marcela Marichalar and was raised by his parents Reynaldo and Maria Pruneda. Throughout his life, Jesus was known for his distinct voice, sound, and unreplicated talent. He devoted his time and energy to bringing joy to people's lives and impacting all of those who were blessed to witness his talent as well as inspiring a new generation to pursue their own path in the music industry.
Jesus Pruneda Marichalar is survived with deep sorrow by his wife Claudia Elizabeth Pruneda, daughters, Jessica Amanda Ochoa, Leticia Maria Gonzalez, Judy Anne Rodríguez, Ishtar Lennette Walker, Victoria Rose Pruneda, Maria Eulalia Theobald, and Thalia Cervantes, as well as mothers Marcela Marichalar and Maria Pruneda. He is also survived by Grandchildren Derek Gonzalez, Michael Agapito Gonzalez, Asasha D. Hernandez, Arabella A. Ochoa, Scarlett Rose Ochoa, Roman Herrera, Scarlett Rose Theobald, Elijah Herrera, David Herrera, Sofía Rey Theobald, Carlito Jesus N. Walker, Carly Walker, Alyssa Rodríguez, Norma Pérez, Isabella Pérez, Elías Rodríguez, Sadie Rodríguez, Rafael Rodríguez, Katalina Celeste Cervantes, and Lorenzo Sebastián Cervantes. He also leaves behind brother Noe Marichalar and sisters Maria Nelly, Josefina, Rosario, Ana Bertha, Nilda and let's not forget thousands of adoring fans and friends.
Jesus was preceded in death by his twin brother Jose Luis Marichalar, brother Carlos Marichalar, and Fathers Reynaldo Pruneda and Jose Marichalar.
The family invites relatives, friends, and fans to a celebration of Jesus Pruneda Marichalar's life on November 7th at 5:00pm to be held at Funeraria Del Angel at 3611 N. Taylor Rd., Mission, TX.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time. Chuy's legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. His talent transcended time. He was a wonderful performer that lit up every room and whose legendary voice helped define a generation. We will miss you Chuy, may you rest in peace.
