He is survived by his wife of 27 years Yesenia Yvette McGee-Celestino and two children Arturo Guilliano (Abigail) Celestino and Sicily Yesenia (Jehoshua) Camacho; one brother Jose Refugio (Miriam) Celestino and sisters Ericka (Eddie III) Martin, Amara (Robert) Cano, Barbara (Tony Jr.) De Luna, Cassandra (Hector) Resendez, Elizabeth (Rene) Carrizales, Oneyda (Steven) Vallecillos, as well as four nieces and ten nephews.
Juan Arturo was born in Weslaco, TX but lived in Monterrey, MX until he was 10 when his family emigrated to Texas, living first in Sebastian, TX and then Santa Rosa, TX.
He lost his own father, Arturo, in June 1987, when he was only 17; and at that early age helped his mother shoulder the responsibility of caring for his siblings, the youngest of which was only 3. He never complained or resented that his own carefree youth could not be...he only ever thought of what needed to be done...and took care of it all...it is what I admired most of him...
After such a profound loss, he made the truth his own and got baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses in July 1988, knowing he wanted to be able to welcome his own father back in the resurrection.
In November of 1988, he met the woman that would become his wife, telling all his friends that he would marry her in two years time even though he had just met her. On June 9, 1991, Juan Arturo and Yesenia married and he allowed her to make the wedding of her dreams...the beginning of always giving her his all...
Family followed...and on July 9, 1993, his son, Arturo Guilliano was born. He was so overcome when he first found out he was having a son that he cried, something he had never done with his wife before, saddened that his own father would not get to see his grandson be born. However, knowing that in the new world they would get to know each other comforted him.
Shortly after, on September 23, 1994, he had the joy of having a beautiful daughter, Sicily Yesenia. He couldn’t believe how perfectly pink she was and from that day forward bought her the most beautiful dresses. He wanted to have her be the most beautifully dressed daughter ever.
Time passed and the family moved to Mission.
The most joyous occasions were when his own children dedicated themselves to Jehovah and then when they married and he was able to see them happy and fulfilled with their own mates.
He loved spending time surrounded by his loving family who admired and loved him deeply. He was always wanting to make sure his mother, Delia, was cared for, always wanting to take her on trips and making sure anything that needed fixing was done.
As anyone will attest, he could talk to anyone and carry on a conversation for hours – he loved to be with his friends and family.
He consistently displayed unconditional love for his wife, children, mother, brother, sisters, nieces and nephews and was the constant bond that kept his family united.
He will be missed for his tenderness towards others and unrestrained sense of humor—always the center of joy in any gathering.
Although we are so saddened, he himself just recently said...”I have lived a life that is more than I could ask for, I am happy and content...Jehovah has blessed me and I know that if I die tomorrow, I have done my job and provided for Guilliano and Sicily and for you”.
His family takes great comfort in sharing in his faith in the resurrection knowing it will be like the blink of an eye before Jehovah calls Arturo’s name and he will be reunited with his family and friends.
