Leonel Valencia

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Leonel Valencia, who passed away peacefully on April 24, 2025, at the age of 97. Leonel was a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a friend to many. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Born on February 10, 1928, in Manzanares, Colombia, Leonel lived a full and vibrant life, leaving behind a legacy of love, kindness, and an infectious zest for life. He was a proud father to his sons, Jesus Mario Valencia (Socorro Ollervidez), Eduardo Valencia (Teresa Duque), and Henry Valencia (Gloria Avalo), and a cherished grandfather to his grandchildren: Catalina Valencia, Catherine Valencia, Cristian Valencia, John Mario Valencia, and Natalie Ollervidez Valencia. He is also survived by his step grandchildren; Sashanelly, Vianney and Johnny. His family was his greatest joy, and he took immense pride in his many great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife; Libia Quiceno who passed away in 2016 and his son; Edgar Valencia who passed away in 1995.

Leonel was known for his boundless energy and active lifestyle. He loved to dance, often sweeping across the floor with joy, and was always ready for an adventure, enjoying traveling and experiencing the world around him. He had a special fondness for good food, with fried chicken and fried shrimp being some of his favorite dishes. His zest for life and his warm spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Leonel's memory will live on through his family and all those whose lives he touched. He will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his love of life, and the joy he brought to all around him. May he rest in peace.

Con gran pesar, anunciamos el fallecimiento de Leonel Valencia, quien falleció pacíficamente el 24 de abril de 2025 a la edad de 97 años. Leonel fue un querido padre, abuelo, bisabuelo y amigo de muchos. Lo extrañarán profundamente todos quienes tuvieron el privilegio de conocerlo.

Nacido el 10 de febrero de 1928 en Manzanares, Colombia, Leonel vivió una vida plena y vibrante, dejando un legado de amor, bondad y un entusiasmo contagioso por la vida. Fue un padre orgulloso para sus hijos: Jesús Mario Valencia (Socorro Ollervidez), Eduardo Valencia (Teresa Duque) y Henry Valencia (Gloria Ávalo), y un querido abuelo para sus nietos: Catalina Valencia, Catherine Valencia, Cristian Valencia, John Mario Valencia y Natalie Ollervidez Valencia. También le sobreviven sus nietos políticos: Sashanelly, Vianney y Johnny. Su familia fue su mayor alegría y se enorgullecía enormemente de sus numerosos bisnietos.

Le precedieron en la muerte su esposa, Libia Quiceno, quien falleció en 2016, y su hijo, Edgar Valencia, quien falleció en 1995.

Leonel era conocido por su energía desbordante y su estilo de vida activo. Le encantaba bailar, a menudo desbordando alegría, y siempre estaba listo para la aventura, disfrutando de viajar y descubrir el mundo que lo rodeaba. Tenía una especial predilección por la buena comida, siendo el pollo frito y los camarones fritos algunos de sus platos favoritos. Su entusiasmo por la vida y su espíritu cálido permanecerán por siempre en los corazones de quienes lo conocieron.

El recuerdo de Leonel perdurará a través de su familia y de todos aquellos cuyas vidas tocó. Será recordado por su inquebrantable amor por su familia, su amor por la vida y la alegría que trajo a todos a su alrededor. Que descanse en paz.
