

Ludivina G. Valverde lived with grace until God called her home on January 22, 2017, at the age of 89 in McAllen, Texas. Ludivina was born in Mission, Texas on August 14, 1927 to Alfredo Z. and Olivia M. Gorena. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Trinidad M. Valverde, Jr.; and her siblings, Maria Olivia Gorena, Jose Alfredo Gorena, and Ella Margarita Gorena. Ludivina is survived by her loving children, Victor Vincent Valverde and his wife Susan Valverde, Velma Valverde, and Valerie Valverde. Ludy, as most people knew her, is also survived by countless extended family members and lifelong friends whom she considered family.
Ludy was born and raised in Mission, TX and was a homemaker and very devoted mother. She worked at Valero Energy Corp until her retirement in 1992.
Ludy was devout in her Catholic faith. From her childhood she always had a special place in her heart for the blessed mother and St. Therese of Lisieux. She was a member of Damas Catolicas at St. Paul Catholic Church for 40 years, of which she was president for 9 years. She also served on St. Paul’s Altar Society for many years.
Ludy loved every type of social gathering, gardening, travel, and most of all sharing a meal with family and friends. She was always very supportive of her children, encouraging, and proud of their every accomplishment. She will be remembered by her children as a selfless mother who personified the meaning of unconditional love. Ludy will be remembered by most for always having a smile on her face and kindness in her heart.
Visitation will take place Tuesday, January 24, 2017 from 2:00pm to 9:00pm with the rosary to be recited at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Serenity located at 3611 Taylor Rd, Mission, TX. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 10:00am at St. Paul Catholic Church, 1119 N Francisco Ave, Mission, TX. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Funeraria Del Angel, 3611 Taylor Rd, Mission, TX 78573.
