It is with deep love and sorrow that the family of Lydia Guerra announces her passing on October 23, 2025, at the age of 86. Lydia was born on July 26, 1939, to Emiliano Salinas and Gregoria Salinas Vela.
Lydia lived a full and beautiful life defined by love, generosity, and devotion to her family. She found joy in the simple things — a hot cup of coffee while watching the news, a good day of shopping, or a new hat that added a touch of style to her day. Lydia had an eye for fashion and a heart for hospitality, always ready to open her home and kitchen to anyone who came by.
Sundays were special to her — a time for family, laughter, and tradition. Her home would be filled with the delicious aroma of tamales and barbacoa, surrounded by her beloved grandchildren. She took pride in her cooking and was known for her menudo, tamales, and baked treats, ensuring no one ever left her home hungry.
Lydia had a passion for gardening and keeping a tidy, welcoming home. She found comfort and peace spending time at her ranch in Mexico, a place that reflected her love for nature and her roots. Her husband was always her top priority, and she dedicated herself wholeheartedly to her family and friends. Lydia never turned anyone away — her warmth, kindness, and willingness to help others touched countless lives.
She had a playful side too, finding joy in stuffed animals, Betty Boop, and Minnie Mouse, all of which reflected her youthful spirit and love of fun.
Lydia is survived by her loving children:
Temo (Mary Ann+) Guerra, Elsa (Jose Santos+) Rodriguez, Sylvia (Silvestre) Gomez, Gregoria (Jesus) Rios, Encarnacion (Cristina) Guerra, and Jose (Janet) T. Guerra Jr.
She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great- great- grand children and extended family members who will cherish her memory and continue to honor her legacy of love, generosity, and faith.
Lydia’s life was a testament to the power of kindness, family, and tradition. Her laughter, her cooking, and her unwavering love will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
