Maria F Ortega

Maria Felicitas Ortega, born in McAllen, Texas, passed away surrounded by the love of the family and friends whose lives she touched so deeply. Though small in stature, Maria had a heart that knew no limits. Her kindness, compassion, and unwavering devotion to others defined her life and left a lasting impact on everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Maria was the beloved daughter of the late Jose Z. Ortega and Guadalupe Ortega. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Jose F. Ortega, her nephew Robert Lopez Jr., and her brother-in-law Roberto C. Lopez.

She is lovingly remembered by her sisters: Ana M. Lopez, Concepcion Fisher and her husband Edward Wilson Fisher, Lila M. Molina and her husband Rolando Molina, Josefina Granados, Norma Rivera Ortega, and Irma Ortega and her husband Homer Omar Flores; and by her brothers Jesus Maria Ortega and the late Jose F. Ortega, whose wife, San Juanita Ortega, remains a cherished member of the family.

Maria also leaves behind a large and loving family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who were blessed by her constant love and guidance. She is survived by Christina Hernandez and her husband Peter Hernandez; Jose Ortega Jr.; Laura Ortega; Israel Quintero Jr.; Anna M. Quintero; Bobbie Joanna Lopez Ortega and her husband Steve Ortega; Reynaldo Rivera Jr. and his wife Isabel Rivera; Vanessa Theriot and her husband Scott Theriot; Rachel M. Rivera; Roxanne V. Rivera; Rex V. Rivera; Alejandro Granados Jr.; Melissa Granados; Francisco Granados; Erica Flores; Luke Flores; Amanda E. Herrera and her husband Robert Herrera; Xavier Castillo; Cristian Quintero; Lianna M. Quintero; Samantha Quintero Vela and her husband Robert J. Vela; Israel Quintero III; Andres Madrigal; Alyssa D. Rivera; Hector J. Morales III; Alissandro Acevedo; Adelina Herrera; and Robert J. Vela Jr., along with many other extended family members and dear friends.

Maria dedicated her life to caring for others. From a young age, she lovingly helped care for her younger sisters and played a significant role in raising many of her nieces and nephews, who looked to her as a second mother. She was the devoted caregiver for her parents and her brother, always placing the needs of those she loved before her own.

Her compassion extended beyond her family into her career as a Licensed Vocational Nurse. Maria proudly served the community at McAllen Medical Center and later at the Hidalgo County Clinic, where her gentle spirit, comforting presence, and dedication to her patients earned the admiration of coworkers and the gratitude of countless families.

Everyone who met Maria was drawn to her warm smile and generous heart. She had a remarkable gift for making people feel welcomed, valued, and loved. She was the kind of person who never hesitated to offer a helping hand, a listening ear, or words of encouragement. Her love was unconditional, her generosity endless, and her faith in the goodness of others unwavering.

Maria's greatest legacy is the love she shared so freely. She taught those around her the importance of family, compassion, service, and selfless love. Though her physical presence will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to live on in the countless lives she touched and in the cherished memories held by those who loved her.

Her family finds comfort in knowing that Maria's beautiful heart and enduring love will never be forgotten. May she rest in eternal peace.
