With deep love and heavy hearts, we announce the passing of our amazing mother, Marta Guadalupe Hernandez, who left us on April 27, 2026, at the age of 84. Her presence will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Marta was a woman of strong qualities—first and foremost was the love she demonstrated to all because of her faith, kindness, strength, generosity, humor, and patience. She touched the lives of everyone who knew her with her warm smile, comforting presence, and unwavering support. She had a special way of making people feel loved, seen, and valued.
She was born on December 12, 1941, in Mexico to Miguel and Anita Garcia. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother (Nana), great grandmother, and her greatest joy in life was being with her family. She created a home filled with faith, love, laughter, tradition, and her presence was at the heart of it all.
Marta leaves behind the love of her life: Eloy; her adored children: Moises (Lupita), Evelyn (Gabriel), and Egla (Scott); her grandchildren which she called “angelitos de Dios”: Breanna (Spencer), Josue (Sabrina), Caleb (Madison), Obed (Annabelle), Alyssa (Isaiah), Elijah, and Sammy; and her great-grandchildren which she called “lucecitas”: Olivia and Liam (children of Breanna and Spencer), Elias (son of Josue and Sabrina), and Levi (son of Caleb and Madison). She is reunited in peace with her parents, Miguel and Anita Garcia, and her two siblings (Arvelio and Maudelia).
We will forever hold close to the memory of her voice, her laughter, and the love she gave so freely. Her final words, “te quiero mucho mi vida,” remind us of the depth of her love for her husband—a love that will continue to guide and comfort us.
A public viewing will be at Funeraria Del Angel in Mission on May 6 from 5-9PM with a prayer service to celebrate her life at 7:00PM. On May 7 from 9AM-11AM, a final public viewing will be held with a funeral service at 11AM. She will be laid to rest at 1PM at the Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission. All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend.
Though our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing her love remains with us always.
