Mary Ellen Alaniz, born December 07, 1963, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 24, 2010 after a long, courageous battle with cancer. Left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory are her loving husband, Robert Alaniz, her precious daughter, Allison Rae, her parents, Pedro and Maria Luisa Villescas, her sister, Martha Villescas Carrera, her four brothers, Pete Villescas Jr., David Villescas (Olga), Ricardo Villescas (Laurie), and Joe Daniel Villescas (Ana) along with her nieces and nephews. Also, left to treasure her memory is the Alaniz family, mother-in-law, Inez Alaniz, sisters Elva Servantes (Mario), Rosalba Moreno (Luis), Rachel Hodge (James), brothers Gerardo Alaniz Jr. (Santa), Rodolfo Alaniz (Jo Ann), Ruben Alaniz (Maribel), along with her nieces and nephews and her church family at Living Word Evangelical Free Church.
Ellen was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother, Ramona V. Navarro and her father-in-law, Gerardo Alaniz.
Ellen was a kind, gentle soul who loved the Lord, Jesus Christ with all her heart. Throughout her illness, she remained steadfast in her faith, grounded in the promise that He would never leave her nor forsake her. And true to His promises, He never did. Throughout her trials, she found immense comfort in ministering to others. As a result, Ellen was a great testimony to everyone whose path crossed hers. Ellen served many years as nursery director at Living Word EFC and served her community through her work at the Health and Human Services Commission as a Texas Works Advisor IV.
Aside from the Lord, Ellen’s two greatest joys in life were being a wife and mother. She was blessed with a wonderful, Godly husband who loved her unconditionally. Two years ago, the Lord saw fit to bless her with the gift of motherhood, and though she was a mother for just a short time, it gave her a lifetime of happiness. Ellen took pride in and fully enjoyed her role of wife, to her “prince” and mother, to her “precious angel pie”.
Though we dearly miss her presence, we find comfort in knowing that she is now at home with her heavenly father, free from all pain and suffering. The family would like to give special thanks to all those who cared for her and provided for her in her times of need. Visitation will be from 9:00AM to 9PM on Tuesday, April 27, 2010 with a prayer service at 7:00PM. Church services will be held at 10:00AM at Living Word Evangelical Free Church. Interment to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens in Mission, Texas.
