Mary Alice was a remarkable woman of great faith, wisdom, integrity, humility, and grace. She was one of a kind, simply a wonderful human being that truly loved people and life to the fullest.
Throughout her life, Mary Alice faced many challenges and losses, including being a breast cancer survivor for over 30 years, as well as, being a devoted caregiver for her late husband, Pablo Flores, to name a few. She embraced and handled every single one with immense strength and resilience. She always had a positive attitude, exemplified peace and was a true inspiration to many.
Mary Alice was born in Edinburg, Texas. She graduated high school from Edinburg High and college from Pan American University, now known as University of Texas RGV, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education. Upon graduating, she went on to teach as an elementary school teacher in PSJA for over 25 years. She was loved and well-respected by friends, family, students, colleagues and everyone that came to know her. To many that knew her, she was truly like an angel on Earth. She listened with patience without judgment and blessed others with her knowledge and wisdom.
Her favorite thing to do was going out to eat with family & friends. Upon retirement, she also loved spending quality time with her grandchildren.
She found great joy working on little projects around her home, as well as, with arts and crafts, to decorate her home throughout the year, but especially for the holidays, in order to bring joy and good cheer to those who would visit her home.
Mary Alice is survived by her son, Javier (Claudia) Jerez and grandchildren, Javier Jerez, Jr and Chloe “Coco” Jerez. She is also survived by her brothers, Rene R. Jerez and Daniel Garcia, as well as, nieces, Cindy Olivarez, Irene Olivarez and nephew, Gilbert Olivarez and many other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her parents, Hilario Jerez and Concepcion Vallejo Jerez, sisters, Rosie Olivarez and Maria Murphy and her late husband, Pablo Flores.
