As the son of Pablo Flores Gonzalez and Albesa Cobos Flores, Mr. Flores was an honest, hard-working gentleman. Mr. Flores was a veteran of the U.S. Navy on the USS BUGARA (SS 331) based in San Diego, California. He served during the Vietnam War era touring around the world while honorably serving his country from January 1961 - July 1969. He took pride in having served his country and received 5 medals for his service, including the Armed Forces Expeditionary Award and 3 awards of good conduct.
After serving his country, Mr. Flores worked as a supervisor with the U. S. Post Office in San Diego, California from 1969-1988. Soon after, he moved to McAllen, Texas where he met his wonderful wife. In 1993, he transferred to the U. S. Post Office in McAllen and was employed there until he retired in 1998. Mr. Flores enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Alice Jerez Flores, his son Michael Flores (Deborah), his stepdaughters, Theresa June Charlton & Julie Ann Charlton, all of San Diego, California, his stepson, Javier Jerez (Claudia) of McAllen.
Also surviving are his brother, Robert Flores (Lilly) and two sisters, Clavel Bocanegra & Vicenta Muñiz, all of McAllen, as well as, many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and wonderful grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. Pablo Flores Gonzalez and Albesa Cobos Flores, siblings Dolores Celso Flores and Jose Angel Flores.
Graveside service with Full Military Honors followed by a 21 gun Salute will be held on Saturday, March 31st from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. at Valley Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3611 N Taylor Rd., Mission, Texas (just south of Nolana on Taylor Rd. on the north side of the Funeral Home)
