Paula Balderas was born in a small village called La Esmeralda in Ojinaga, Chihuahua, Mexico on January 25, 1934 to Pablo and Anita Hernandez. She was one of ten siblings. She was raised in this small community, where she heard the Gospel of Jesus Christ while attending the local Apostolic Church with her parents. She gave her life to Jesus in her teens, and at the age of 14 was baptized in the name of Jesus Christ receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost by the evidence of speaking in other tongues. She served in her Church all her youth and later moved to El Paso where she met her husband Arturo Balderas. They were married at the El Paso Apostolic Church by Pastor Juan Martinez on September 19th, 1970. The couple moved to Mission Texas where they raised their two children Isaias Balderas and Rebecca Cameron. Paula instructed her children in the way of the Lord and kept her home as a house wife. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, whose greatest joy was to be in the house of the Lord praising and glorifying His name. She was very active in the group of the Femenil Dorcas of the Apostolic Church where she served in local, Sector, and District leadership roles. Paula was well known for her cooking, as she would always provide food for pastoral gatherings, fundraising, and welcoming the brethren into her home. Paula gained a daughter Michelle Concepcion, who married her son Isaias and a son Francisco Cameron, who married her daughter Rebecca. She lost her husband of 34 years in February of 2014.
Paula Spent her golden years enjoying her grandchildren Andrew Balderas, Isabella Xochil Balderas, Elias Cameron, and Rivka Margaret Cameron. She often gathered them and prayed over them that the Lord would guide their paths in the way of righteousness. Paula also loved spending time with her friends who all knew her as the “Hermana Paulita” at Nuestra familia Adult Daycare in Weslaco, TX and later at Nuestra familia Feliz in Pharr, TX . Paulita was a loving and giving grandmother to all who knew her. When anyone met Paulita they instantly fell in love with her and knew they had a faithful friend in her because of the love of Christ that shown so brightly in her. Her hope and joy in the Lord was clearly seen in her words and actions. If you cried, she would cry with you. If you laughed, she would join you with her wonderful laughter. And if you needed prayer, she would become a mighty prayer warrior for you. Paulita had an unrelenting faith and love for Jesus that gave her overwhelming joy which she displayed throughout her life. May we all strive to be like her as she lived to be like her precious Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
