Praise be to God! On Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Rebeca A. Blanco Abiro (Bekie) was welcomed by her Maker.
Bekie was born in Eagle Pass, Texas, to her parents (Rev. Samuel Blanco and Esther M. Blanco). She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Health Science Center at Houston. Her specialties were in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and Pediatric Cardiology. Her true heart of compassion was her greatest attribute in her profession of 33 years.
Bekie was a faithful member of El Divino Redentor (Global Methodist) in McAllen for many years, where she served the Lord with joy, whether it was through singing, teaching adults, working with children, church fund raisers, etc. A couple of years ago, she experienced what she called “a Holy Spirit moment” (a personal encounter with the Holy Spirit). That experience was transformational, as her life began reflecting Christ’s.
Bekie was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Emmanuel Jemine Abiro. She is survived by her siblings: Samuel (Alma) Blanco, Magdalena (Jeremiah) Gutierrez, Martha (Rod) Elbaor, Ruth (Robert) Lopez, Esther (Joel) Salas, and David (Irma) Blanco. She is also survived by her 6 children: Rebekah (Joey) Flores, Sarah (Christopher) Wilmot, Naomi (Monica) Abiro, Gabriel Jemine (Samantha) Abiro, Martha, and Juliana (Isaiah) Jones. Her surviving family also includes 4 grandchildren: Hannah Flores, Gabriel and Grace Abiro, and Isaiah Emmanuel Jones. To God be the glory!
In thanksgiving for Bekie’s life and witness, memorial gifts may be made to El Divino Redentor Methodist Church (PO Box 1570, McAllen, TX, 78505), Morning Miracles Challenge Women’s Ministry (CashApp $morningmiracles), or Selah Women’s Ministry (tinyurl.com/Selah-Women) continuing the work she loved.
