Roque proudly served in the US Navy during the Korean War as a Radioman aboard four battleships. After his discharge, he worked in civil service as a procurement officer and earned his degree from Sul Ross State University.
Roque was blessed to have found love with two amazing women. He married Dubelza (Hinojosa) in 1956. They started their family in Houston, moving with Roque’s career to San Antonio, Del Rio, then Kingsville where they lived in retirement until Dubelza lost her fight with cancer in 1989.
In 1995, Roque found love again with Maggie Nieto, a former classmate at Laredo Martin High. They reconnected at a high school reunion, knew they were meant to be, and married the following summer. Roque moved to McAllen, where Maggie lived.
Roque was always very active, playing tennis, running, and later riding his bike and traveling with Maggie. In McAllen, he quickly met a group with the same passions: playing tennis and drinking coffee at the local Burger King every morning. His love above all was his family and spending time together.
Roque leaves those he loved the most: his wife Maggie and family.
