Ruben was born on August 20, 1935, to his loving parents, Rafael Gutierrez and Lucina Rios. He lived a life defined by hard work, integrity, devotion to his family, and kindness toward everyone he met.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, his beloved wife, Maria L. Gutierrez, with whom he shared 63 wonderful years of marriage. Together they built a beautiful family and created countless cherished memories, especially through their love of traveling together and experiencing new places side by side.
Ruben was a skilled contractor and real estate developer whose career spanned 43 years. He proudly owned and operated Ruben Gutierrez Construction, LTD, Las Violetas Apartments, and RSG Investments. He built countless residential homes and successfully developed residential and apartment subdivisions, leaving a lasting impact on the communities he helped build. His success earned him the recognition as Builder of the Year by the Rio Grande Valley Builders Association in 1996. He took great pride in his work, earning the respect of those who knew him for his craftsmanship, dedication, and strong work ethic.
Above all, Ruben's greatest joy was his family. He leaves behind his loving children: Janie Gutierrez, Mary Lou Garcia (Jonathan), and Gardenia Perez (Cristobal) and five sons. He was a proud and devoted grandfather to Martin Mejia Jr., Saydahli Mejia, Alesain Mejia, Maraya Garcia, Nathan Garcia, Nicolas Garcia, Elias Gutierrez, Timothy Saenz, and Omero Perez. His love, wisdom, and gentle presence will continue to live on through each of them.
Ruben will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend. His quiet strength, generous heart, and unwavering love for his family touched countless lives. He leaves behind a legacy of perseverance, compassion, and unconditional love that will never be forgotten.
Though our hearts are saddened by his passing, we find comfort in knowing he is reunited with his beloved Maria and his parents. His memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He will be forever loved, forever remembered, and forever missed.
