Samuel Castaneda

Samuel Castaneda, of Edinburg TX, passed away Thursday December 29, 2016 surrounded by his family at the age of 64. Samuel was born on July 31, 1952 to Cipriano and Frances (Mosqueda) Castaneda. He is preceded in death by his parents, Cipriano and Frances Castaneda; his sisters, Ester Perez, Jovita Juarez, Sara Ramos; and his brother, Daniel Castaneda.

Samuel was a graduate of Edinburg High School. He worked for Varel Intl. in Matamoros, MX for 28 years. Samuel was a lover of life. He cherished his family above all things. Samuel was a loving father, husband, grandfather and friend to all. He loved the outdoors, particularly working in the yard and nurturing his plants. Samuel loved all music but was especially keen of the songs of the 60’s. He was always up for a good action film. He had a friendly spirit. He would encounter people as strangers and leave giving you the feeling that he was a friend. He had a way of lifting the mood with his infectious happy-go-lucky way of life. He kept things light and playful even during the toughest times. He truly was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Felicitas (Alvarez) Castaneda; his sons, Jason (Ceci) and Sammy; his daughters, Vanessa and Liza; and his cherished grandchildren, Camille, Levi, and Ellie. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Betty (Molina) Perez. Samuel is also survived by his sisters, Lou Rivas, Anita Salinas, Enriqueta Contreras and Noemi Lopez; and brother, Cipriano Castaneda Jr.

Visitation will take place Friday, December 30, 2016 from 3:00pm to 9:00pm with a memorial service at 7:00pm at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Serenity.

Funeral service will be Saturday, December 31, 2016 at 10:00am at Funeraria Del Angel Chapel of Serenity, with a committal service to follow at Valley Memorial Gardens.
