

It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Tomas “Tommy” Garcia, who went to be with our LORD on January 24, 2026. He was 66 years old and a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend, and his presence will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Tommy was born September 3, 1959 in McAllen,Texas to Aurelio Garcia, Sr. and Agustina H. Garcia. Throughout his life, Tommy was known for his strong devotion to his family and his dedication to the farming/citrus industry. He was a graduate of McAllen High School and always enjoyed football. Tommy served in various boards and committees including but not limited to Maranatha Baptist Church of McAllen, Texas, Texas Citrus Mutual, Citrus Fiesta of Mission, Texas {King Citrus 2012}, Texas A & M University Citrus Center Advisory Board in Weslaco, Texas, and Hidalgo County Irrigation District No. 1 in Edinburg Texas. He loved breathing in the morning air each day and thanked God for another day.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Matilde “Mati” Montez Garcia, and together they built a strong and loving family consisting of three sons Tomas Garcia, Jr., Omar V.Garcia and Carlos A. Garcia (Clarissa) and one grand daughter Charlotte Nevaeh Garcia. He is also survived by his siblings Jose L. Garcia (Julia V.), Delia G. Garza (Ruben), Aurelio Garcia, Jr., Yolanda G. Torres (Ray) and Jesus Garcia (Blanca G.) and many nephews and nieces whom he deeply loved, along with grand nephews Jacob Torres, Javier Garcia, Jaime Garcia and Drew Garcia each also deeply loved.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents Aurelio Garcia, Sr. and Agustina H. Garcia.
The family invites relatives and friends to a celebration of Tommys’ life on January 30, 2026 from 5:00pm to 10:00pm with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. to be held at Funeraria Del Angel (Serenity Chapel) at 3611 N. Taylor Rd., Mission, Texas; funeral service at 12:00 noon on Saturday at Funeraria Del Angel (Serenity Chapel) followed by Interment at Valley Memorial Gardens at 1:00 p.m.
The family deeply appreciates the outpouring of love, prayers, and support during this difficult time.
