January 19, 1943 – April 23, 2025
Albert John Ka’aumoana Perkins III passed away peacefully on April 23, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. He was 82 years old.
"Big Al" was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaiʻi. Albert proudly lived a life rooted in aloha, service, and deep commitment to ʻohana. He and his beloved wife of 50 years, Hattie Rachel Nahonoapi'ilani Perkins (Bright), built their life together in Kaneʻohe, where they raised three sons and taught them the values of hard work, humility, and Hawaiian pride.
Albert was drafted into the U.S. Army and served in the Vietnam War. He worked hard all his life, retiring as a truck driver for Better Brands on Oʻahu. His dedication to providing for his family meant making sacrifices to ensure his boys could attend private school and grow up with opportunities he never had. Albert was a proud father and grandfather, and nothing brought him more happiness than simply spending time with his family — whether talking story, laughing, playing cards, or just being together.
Albert is survived by his brother, Levi Michael Perkins, Jr., his wife, Hattie; his sons Albert John Ka’aumoana Perkins IV (Cristy), Elton John Keolaokalani Perkins (Neysa), and Trapper John Ikaika Perkins; and his grandchildren Isis Perkins, Aura Perkins, Albert Perkins V, Lincoln Perkins, Bennett Perkins, Kealiʻi Kauahi, and Sasha Vargas.
He will be remembered for his jokes, his grit, his big heart, and his deep love for the people he called family. His legacy lives on in the generations he raised with patience, humor, and love.
A hui hou, Dad. Until we meet again.
A memorial service will be held on:
Saturday, May 3, from 3:00–5:00 PM
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center,
