Alma Ninette del Rosario Matta Galán Ríos, born October 07, 1942 in Zacapa, Guatemala, one of six sisters. Alma’s story is one of courage, resilience, and love. It's what shaped the incredible woman she became.
At just 23, she made the brave decision to leave everything she knew behind, traveling to the United States in search of a better future. She made San Francisco her home, embracing every challenge with strength, determination and starting a new life for her whole family for generations to come. It was there that she met and married the love of her life, Jorge Luis Ríos. Together, they welcomed their greatest blessing their only daughter, Alba Ninette Ríos
Through hard work and perseverance, Alma built a beautiful home in palo alto surrounded by banana trees and gardened flowers in her yard. She wore many hats from being a teacher, a house cleaner, a caregiver, an accountant, an entrepreneur and boss always finding a way to provide and proving time and time again that she could do anything she set her mind to.
Her greatest achievement was not in the things she built but in the love she gave. Alma was love in its purest form. She was a devoted mother and a grandmother who adored her two grandchildren, Sasha Strater Ríos and Dayrin Martinez Ríos. They were the lights of her life, and everything she did was for them. Her love was unwavering, her presence a constant source of comfort and strength.
Alma lived simply, but fully. She found joy in the littlest of things sharing life stories, cooking meals made with love, and filling every room with warmth. She had a quiet strength, a deep kindness, and a heart so big it touched everyone who knew her. She wasn’t just someone you met... she was someone you remembered, someone who made life better just by being in it.
Her name, Alma, means soul and that’s exactly what she was. A soul so nurturing, so kind, so full of love that her presence will be felt forever. Though she is no longer physically with us, her spirit lives on in every lesson she taught, every life she touched, every act of love she shared, and in the hearts of those who were lucky enough to know her.
She was, and always will be, our mamá mamá pío pío🐥
