Age 75, of Mission Viejo, CA passed away Saturday, June 18, 2022. Services will be held Sunday, July 24, 2022 at 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Fairhaven Memorial Services, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, Ca. The service will be with the US Marine Corps Full Honor Ceremony. The reception will be at 11:00 am to 2:00 pm at Fairhaven Memorial Services, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, Ca. Family Requests a Dress Code of Hawaiian Attire, Shorts and Flip Flops.

Barth Oliver Massey was born September 23, 1946 in Long Beach, California and grew up in Fullerton, CA. Attended St. Mary's Elementary school, Mater Dei High School and graduated Class of 1965 from Fullerton Union High School. Also attended Orange Coast, Fullerton, and Golden West Colleges. Enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, 1965 to 1969, of the Marine Heavy Helicopter Squadron 463 (HMH-463) in Vietnam and made the rank of Sgt E-5 April 1, 1968. He worked at UCI Medical Center in Orange, CA from 1971 to about 1980. And joined the Reserves 1976 - 1981 as a Scout/Forward Observer SSgt. of the 4th Mar Div, 3rd Anglico, in Long Beach, CA. Started a career in Law Enforcement in 1980 at the Irvine Police Department, then to San Clemente Police Department from 1981 to 1993 on Patrol Officer / Detective & Sniper on the SWAT Team, and then from 1993 to 2012 as an Investigator for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Married from 1974 to 1999 to Denise. Barth Massey was preceded in death by his parents, Oliver Lee and Louise Bays Massey; his Brother, Jon Massey; his daughter, Stefanie Massey and is survived by his sister, Tamara – Palm Desert, CA; his brother, Bob Massey (Sharie) – Mission Viejo, CA; his 2 sons, Nate Massey – Mission Viejo, CA, Drew Massey – Oceanside, CA; and 5 Grandchildren, Kaven, Mason, Ayla, Aero, and Thriver.

Barth felt deeply for his duty to his country, had unconditional love for his children & grandchildren, was a great friend to all, and will be greatly missed.
