Betty was born October 8, 1938, in Anniston, Alabama, to Jodie and Verlus
Cobb.
She attended Cobb Avenue High School in Anniston, Alabama. She
continued her education at Southwestern College, graduating with an
Associates Degree in Business Management.
Betty moved to Newport, Rhode Island in 1957, where she met and married
Taylor Darby Jr. A few years after their marriage the Navy transferred
them to San Diego, California where they continued to grow their family.
She was a professional seamstress by trade and eventually opened her own
designer dress business. Sewing was her passion and she still enjoyed
creating beautiful items for her family and friends.
She was an active member of Christ Our Redeemer Church and worked
with various charities.
Her interest included family, gardening, sewing, shopping and reading. She
was devoted to her family which was most important to her.
Betty is survived by her two sisters: Phyllis Shelling and Virginia Malone;
two sons: Jeffrey Darby and Terence Darby; two daughters: Taylana Darby
and Tracy Wynn; one son-in-law: Al Wynn; two daughter-in-laws:
Kimberly Fehevary and Lynda Darby; six grandchildren: Briona
Hurshman, Taylor Darby, Darian Darby, Tristan Darby, Dominic Darby
and Olivia Wynn; two great grandchildren: Lily Hurshman and Daphne
Hurshman, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Taylor Darby Jr.
