Catherine Cardone Tjaden was born on February 26, 1927, in the Bronx, New York. The youngest daughter of nine (9) children of Giuseppe and Catherina Cardone, originally from Regione de Campania, Naples, Italy. She attended St. Raymonds High School, in the Bronx. She met her first husband Jack Marcuso in New York City and they eventually moved from New York, to Baltimore, Maryland, and eventually settled in Southern California in 1965. Catherine was very proud of her Italian heritage, and she had an incredible zeal for life. She had a larger than life personality if you ever met her. Catherine was quite active in politics as she volunteered in numerous Republican Party causes in the State of California. Her most favorite political experience was her involvement with Ronald Reagan’s Presidential Campaign in 1980 and 1984. She actually made a macaroni salad dish personally for President Ronald Reagan, at his 69th birthday celebration. Catherine was active in her son’s little league baseball serving in various capacities. She later married Byron Tjaden, the love of her life. Byron was a WWII Veteran, and both he and Catherine were active in various American Legion causes and activities. Her hobbies were getting to know people; nature; gardening; cooking; and serving in the American Legion Organization.
Catherine also assisted and supported her son at their Italian Restaurant located in Orange County, California.
Catherine is survived by her loving son John and one Grandchild, “Buddy” her Maltipoo.
A Public Viewing will be held on Friday, June 15, 2018, from 5:00-7:00pm at Fairhaven Memorial Chapel, located at 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will occur the next day on June 16, 2018, 11:00am, at Fairhaven Memorial Services, located at 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA 92692
