November 11, 1927 - April 18, 2019
Catherine passed away April 18, 2019 after a short illness.
Everyone who knew Cathy, friends and relatives alike, loved her for her sweet nature and great sense of humor.
John Philip Diaconoff was the love of her life and they were married over sixty years. They met during the outbreak of World War II and fell in love. Philip served in the navy and returned to marry Catherine.
Cathy had a second love. Music and the piano were her passion and solace. Her mother, Fay, was an accomplished pianist in her own right and was her first teacher when she was just five years old. After finishing high school, Cathy began playing with trios and quartets all around the Bay Area.
In 2015, after the death of her beloved husband, Philip, Catherine moved back to Southern California to be near family. She continued to play the piano and took up cocktail jazz to entertain her friends and family. Always inquisitive and sharp to learn and experience new adventures, she will truly missed by all of us left behind.
