Grandma,

My go to Grandma; the Grandma-Grandma!  

When I think of you, I think of Christmas and gifts and cozy fires.  You would bake cookies, brownies and fudge and we would eat way too much, but never enough.  

Visiting you was always exciting and we knew we would be in for an adventure and were rarely let down.

I miss your vibrant smile and melting into your hugs.  I am lucky to have been able to experience so much of your love.

Gramma, 

Thank you for blessing us all with your gift of gab. I remember growing up increasingly more and more impressed with how good you were at striking up conversations with complete strangers that always left them feeling important. You always found the beauty in everyone and I hope to  share that gift with my grandchildren one day as you were so generous in sharing it with me. 

It didn't matter if it was the queen of England (who I'm sure you met on multiple occasions) or the bus boy at Olive Garden, you always treated everybody with the same towering level of respect and I promise to never forget it. If there's a positive trait  I possess it's because you gave it to me. I am truly blessed to have grownup with a gramma who was as active and available in my life. 

I will always cherish those Sunday love calls and am grateful you got to meet my daughter. 

Please enjoy your days in heaven because you certainly deserve it after the way you lived your wonderful life down here.

Dear Grandma,
I always admired how you grabbed life by the horns and never let anything or anyone get in your way to accomplish everything you put your heart into. I always enjoyed learning about your entrepreneur endeavors. You raised a great family, stayed strong and lived a long successful life! I believe all your children, grandchildren and great grandchildren will keep your amazing legacy going just the way you wanted it to. I will always cherish my memories of going snail hunting, heading to the Casino ( midnight steak and eggs at Sams town), giving me my first kitty ( orange buddy w/ broken tail) and of course hearing about your awesome stories & adventures : )

What a wonder accomplishment, you made a difference in this world !  You influenced so many people, you loved and received love from everyone in your life !  While you experienced trials and tribulations, you persevered and made your mark as the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many.  You lead a very interesting life.  You mastered several careers and interests.  Your devotion to your faith never waned.  You took care of your mother when she needed help, you had several loves of your life,  raised four independent children all happy and successful whom provided wonderful grandchildren and great grandchildren, just the beginning to your life successes.  You provided so many wonderful memories for me personally,  you will be admired and greatly missed.  With all of my love,  your son Brett


Eleanor Mae Endicott Moore was my mother for almost 70 years.  She was the greatest mother!  She was the first know sighting of a “moma bear.”  There was nothing she would not do for her children.  Even as adults she was always involved in our lives.   She was very proud that she raised four good kids.  

Mom lived a great life.  As she said, “we had a lot of fun.”  

She will make a good angel.  She loved people and was very interested in their lives.  She made friends easily.  She loved whole heartedly.  

Mom will be missed.  Her energy and spirit will live on in the memories and stories of her.  “The great Eleanor!”

I love you grandma. I will always cherish the time we spent together and remember all the things you have shown me. 
For those times that I am missing you, I just have to look towards your children and grandchildren, because a little piece of you is inside all of us...

Goodbye grandma

 As much as I always kind of resented your grandiose stories- (Cue the eye roll) I will truly miss hearing you tell them. You were so captivating and such a people person. My biggest regret is not having more conversations with you about your early life and young adulthood. I don’t
think I really understood just what kind of trailblazer you were until seeing the picture slideshow at your memorial. You really lived quite a life. I remember asking you once while visiting at Anaheim Extended Care if you were happy with the life you lived, and you nodded and said assuredly, “yes”. That made me happy. It saddens me to no end that you couldn’t have had us all by your side at the very end but I’m so relieved knowing my mom was there. 
I’m forever grateful for the life you’ve given to all of us, all that you endured and your unwavering spirit even amidst times of immense hardship and abuse.  I know you were a seeker and enjoyed exploring modes of awakened consciousness. You were the first person to introduce me to meditation. A priceless tool. You passed along Deepak Chopra books because you knew that was an interest of mine and I cherish all those books to this day. 
I remember you had a bumper sticker on your car that read “peace begins with me” and for some reason that mantra has always stuck with me. Wherever you may be, I hope you are cruising around in a fancy Benz with that rich husband in the passenger seat, with kitty on your lap, all your dogs heads hanging out the back windows and lots of garage sale finds and dumpster goodies hanging out of the trunk. Until we cross paths again, I love you forever “Frama”. 

I find it hard to encapsulate with words what life was like with Grandma Sult. Truth be told, there are so many memories that I’m having a hard time accessing in this moment but I know I’ll remember as time goes on. She’s been showing up for me as a white butterfly which has been reassuring in times where I might need some guidance and support. So thank you grandma for remaining in touch. 
I’ll never forget visiting you in all the many places you’ve lived. I remember Vegas first and foremost and the big house (a friends house I think?) that had the miniature golf course and indoor pool. I think that pool was the first place I “skinny dipped” (in my undies) with Jessica and Aunt Brenda and my mom. Tooling around with you thru casinos, Circus Circus games and eating at buffets because you had “coupons”.  But of course, you’d always complain about the food after the fact and it was “too expensive”. 
Oh, and you would steal the salt and pepper shakers, LOL. There was the Pebble Beach cottage, probably my favorite. I really liked driving around the 17 mile loop with you. We would always go to this one restaurant in Monterey with big windows that looked out onto the coast. You got me a season pass to the aquarium, we’d go to Carmel and you would tell stories about all the rich people who lived there. You once took me to an orchid society meeting and I thought I’d die from boredom. You were always so busy! I remember helping you prepare dinners for Marie in her kitchen and you’d give me the task of setting out the dinner China. I certainly don’t miss the peculiar smells of that old house. The one and only time I visited you in Texas we went to Austin which was a lot of fun. We watched the bats fly out from under the bridge, we stumbled upon the “Salt Lick” bbq out in the country and visited a really beautiful Hindu Temple. One thing you always did as a grandma was make sure your grandkids got what they wanted. You would always consider our input. 

Mom,  As each day goes by my heart feels the pain of your loss more and more. I know the pain will subside as the months turn into years but know your love will always be a part of who I am and anybody that was lucky enough to have you in their life. Please know having you as my mother never had a dull moment in it and I’m proud I’m your daughter. We didn’t always see eye to eye but we were truly a lot alike. Maybe that’s why we argued :) You lived a wonderful life but I know you wanted more. We should always want more. You were a dreamer, a wisher and hoper. You never gave up. You often didn’t finish or follow through but I’m guessing that because you were into the next great thing, Your work ethic, energy, and sense of humor is something you passed on to me and the love of food. You left behind a loving family that are all here because of you. I’m sad strokes and dementia took so many years from you, but I’m happy I got to be a part of your life the last three years though. Seeing you, holding your hand, going out, partying with family, going to the park, drinking Champagne and taking pictures were highlights. 
Everything around me reminds me of you. You were a such a good sport and always up for doing something new. A new adventure. From going on cruises or to driving to Canada for a job interview in a Honda with Brenda, and all the kids. I have a lifetime of memories with you. Thank you for being my mother. I’m glad you’re whole again with all your fur babies and surely making new friends in paradise as the beautiful Angel you always were. I love you more!!!

I was blessed to be the first to call Eleanor Sult, Grandma. She would always tell me how special I was to be grandson #1. Not that she didn't love all her grandkids the same, she was proud of us all.

Grandma was a natural born storyteller, it didn't matter if they were true stories or not, she knew how to entertain. Grandma could strike up a conversation with anyone, usually eavesdropping and joining conversations with nearby tables 

I will always remember...
-Staying up late telling stories
-Riding around with a car full of dogs, garbage picking
-Going to Hollywood to sit in Ferrari's, and skipping out on a check
-Trixie the dobie, and certainly Teddy the ankle biter
-Driving around Pebble Beach in a classic white Benz
-Most of all I remember her smile, all the good stories, laughter and so much fun!
-Grandma was a trailblazer, truly a bright light in the darkness

I hope now she will find that rich grandpa she was always looking for. Love Justin

Devastating that I couldn't be there for Eleanor's Memorial. She was like my second mom....and sometimes my first. I dated her son Brett for many years and became close friends with her kids. Sharon and I stayed close through the many years that have past. I watched the Memorial with my mom, Carole Fieldhouse, who also became very close to Eleanor. We both sat and cried...the many memories shared by the slide video were hard to watch. It brings a sense of mortality as we never thought Eleanor would leave this earth. She was bright, cheerful, a quick change artist, ornery, lovely, and forever colorful. Even though mom and I didn't get to see her much at the end, we always loved her! We always will! RIP Eleanor! It's so hard to believe you are gone, but Carol got it right...you are spiritual... so I know you are always still here with us!   

When my three year old daughter asked me what her great-grandma was like, so many things flooded my mind. Imaginative. You had the most wonderful imagination and showed me how to really dream big. Whether it was fulfilling my dream of getting a doctorate or playing dragon hunts with my kids, the imagination you fostered in me as a child manifests itself in so many ways in my life. Fun. You were so much fun. I remember so many fond memories of summers with you. We had so many adventures; exploring cuisines from around the world, mid-night snacks at Bob’s Big Boy, hunting for snail eggs, and double features at the movie theater. Generous. Whether you had a lot or a little money you really showed us what the world had to offer. Inspiring. You have enriched my life and made me feel powerful and important. When I feel doubt, I think of you and remember that anything is possible when you believe. Loved. You were the most loving person, and I love you so much more than words can capture. I feel truly blessed to have you as a grandmother, and looking forward to when we get to meet again.  

I often think back with fond memories of the time that Jessica, Justin and I flew back from Iowa to our first home in Riverside to spend the summer with you.  An early memory in life that would turn out to be one of the most memorable summers of my life.  I can still smell the dew during early morning trips to the orange groves to collect snail eggs, which could be exchanged for midnight snacks at Bob's Big Boy.  The tradition of midnight snacks lives on with my kids, I take every advantage to tell them stories of the summer Great Grandma took us to Beverly Hills to see Lamborghini's, tand took us to LA to get skateboards.  Life was always exciting when we were together, your sense of adventure has always been contagious and I feel lucky to have experienced it.  We have so many amazing memories together that I will always cherish, Vegas, Monterrey, Reno, the Mexican Rivera, so many places, so little time, and we did our best to make special memories at all of them.  I am forever grateful to have you for a Grandma and a Great-Grandma to my children, your spirit will always live brightly in our hearts.  I can never thank you enough for the life-long memories, I will hold them dearly, I love you always and forever Grandma




I have beautiful memories of the time that Adrian and I and Patrick, who was 18 months at the time, came to spend a couple of days with you in Texas. You showed us around town, we ate Mexican food (and had a margarita), you took us to Chucky Cheese, we went to Texas Roadhouse where you got to see toddler Patrick eat a giant steak! Everywhere we went you had a fantastic story to share with us. My favorite part of the trip was when you took us to the book store. Adrian and I went to walk around so you could get some one on one time with your great-grand-son. When we got back, you were sitting on the floor with Patrick on your lap reading him a book. He was so intrigued by you and very calm just sitting with you listening to the story. You were a natural with him! He liked it so much that you couldn't resist buying him that book. I will never forget this moment because seeing how beautiful the two of you looked together has made a permanent imprint in my favorite memories. Thank you for this, I will always cherish it.

Mom, I’ll always remember how you taught me to not be afraid to ask, “what could it hurt”, you would say. All they can say is No”. Your imagination gave me hope and showed me I can dream big dreams. You laughed often and showed me love and affection, but you were often serious. As I look back, I believe you had to be serious to raise four children in the 1950’s as a single working mother.  You clearly valued hard work and never wanted to stop working. You instilled that in me. Your strong will and energy were boundless, and your enthusiasm was contagious. You delighted your grandchildren and never missed a birthday or special event. Yes, mom you were a character, one of a kind and although your later years were difficult, your fighting spirit never allowed you to give up. You never stopped dreaming of the day you would rise up and beat your afflictions. Although you passed from this physical world, your vivacious spirit will always live in me.

I could never have too much Eleanor in my lifetime - I miss your adventure-focused free spirit, your smiling eyes, and endless tenacity regardless of the circumstances.   Resting, I know, is not in your nature so if you need a project, I'd appreciate your guidance.
