

Mr. Fred M. Eblin, of Rancho Santa Margarita, California, unexpectedly passed away at home from cardiac arrest on Sunday, January 29, 2023. He was 75 years old.
Fred was a retired plant manager and employee relations manager for the Mead Corporation, which later became MeadWestvaco and then WestRock. He was with Mead for more than 30 years and was well-known and respected for his good judgment, strong work ethic, and integrity. Before Mead, Fred worked at other well-known corporations such as the Kenworth Truck Company and the J.C. Penney Company, Inc.
Fred was born in November 1947 in Chillicothe, Ohio to Mr. & Mrs. Marcuis and Edith Eblin. Fred grew up in Chillicothe and graduated from Chillicothe High School, where he was a multi-sport varsity athlete. He graduated with his bachelor’s degree in business and human resources from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. Fred later studied mediation and conflict resolution at Pepperdine University. He married his high-school sweetheart, Carol, in May 1975.
Fred and his family moved to Rancho Santa Margarita in 1994 and became active Orange County residents. Fred always remembered his beloved Ohio and he was a loyal and passionate Ohio State Buckeyes football fan.
Fred was an award-winning master woodworker and marquetry expert. For example, he and his wood and marquetry work won first place blue ribbons at the 2016, 2017, and 2018 Orange County Fairs, and he and his work have been featured in such publications as Wood magazine.
Fred is survived by his wife, Carol Eblin; daughter Chrissy Eblin Shu (John); son Fred Eblin; grandsons Zaidan and Brexton Eblin; and sisters Esther Hardwick (Charles) and Jenny Magill (David).
The memorial service for Fred is scheduled for 9:00 a.m., Thursday, February 16, 2023, at Fairhaven Memorial Services, 27856 Center Drive, Mission Viejo, CA 92692. The burial service and ceremony for Fred is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on the same morning, at El Toro Memorial Park, 25751 Trabuco Road, Lake Forest, CA 92630.
