November 16, 1962 – September 29, 2023
Laguna Niguel, CA
Gina Morgenson, 60, entered Heaven while in the arms of her devoted husband and family members by her side. She had battled cancer from her initial diagnosis in February 2020. Gina is survived by her devoted husband Eric and their three sons, Jack (29), Sam (27) and Max (25), sisters, Michelle Webster and Marianne Noskin and their families, and her parents, Lea Hoffman and Michael Zummo. She is also survived by cousins, nephews, nieces and great nephews and nieces.
Gina was born in Bay Shore, New York, and moved to Plano, Texas at age 16. In 1980, she met Eric at Plano Senior High School. She graduated in 1980 and attended Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. Gina was employed by EDS in Dallas, then moved to Manhattan Beach, California, joining Eric in 1988 and went to work at Hamilton Avent. Gina and Eric moved to Sydney, Australia where Gina worked for Australian Consolidated Press and excelled as an advertising sales executive. She and Eric relocated to the US and were married in Dallas, Texas on December 21, 1991. From Texas, the newlyweds relocated to Dana Point, California, starting a family with their first-born son, Jack. Gina's quest for this life was to be a mother. She had Sam two years to the date from the birth of Jack on October 3rd at 4:30 pm in Laguna Beach, 1994 and 1996. Max arrived 18 months later in the same Laguna Beach hospital room.
Gina was a very dedicated mother juggling all the activities of raising three extremely active boys. She volunteered at Moulton Elementary School, the PTA, running club, and the board of a non-profit which catered to the needs of military service personnel returning from the Iraq War.
Gina was an avid tennis fan delighting in grand slams. She fulfilled her dream of attending Wimbledon in July of 2022. Foodwise she could make pancakes blindfolded. Pasta from scratch was fun for her, as well as an all-day marinara sauce. Italy was one of her favorite places to visit and Paris was her preferred city.
Gina did everything with a cheerful heart, was there for all, giving her love, encouragement, support, and a shoulder to cry on. She was a very empathetic soul. When you talked to Gina, she would empathically listen. She was always very present when you engaged with her. She made you feel understood, simply because she was “all in” on what you were saying. It was therapeutic to talk to her.
Gina was a Godly woman devoted to her prayer group as a founding member twenty-two years ago. This group had fourteen attending members throughout the years encouraging one another and discovering the word of God. She was such a beautiful wife, mother, sister, in-law, daughter, and friend – she was perfect for us all. She was living proof that God is perfect.
A memorial service will be held at South Shores Church at 32712 Crown Valley Parkway, Dana Point, CA 92629 on her birthday, November 16th at 3:00PM.
Revelation 21:4 – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or
mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”
