Gloria Ann Wald, 86 of Mission Viejo passed away Wednesday, July 1, 2020. She was born January 19, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY to Moise “Moon” Silver and Sarah Hannah Purvin Silver. She grew up and attended schools in Brooklyn New York.
In the winter of 1955, Gloria met Irwin H. Wald on a blind date through her friend at work. The couple fell quickly in love and in fact he asked for her to marry him on just their third date. Six months later on June 24, 1956, they married in Brooklyn and later purchased a home there. They had four children together, two boys and two girls. Gloria was a devoted wife, and loving mother.
Irwin and Gloria celebrated over 48 years of marriage until his passing in 2004.
Gloria had primarily been a homemaker however; previously to marriage, she had also done some modeling in New York and secretarial work. She truly loved all types of music, singing, dancing, big band swing, Sinatra, and especially musicals which she knew the words to every song. She was a t.v. and movie buff with a wealth of movie trivia, reciting lead actors, actors, co-stars and all the juicy gossip that surrounded their lives. She loved crossword puzzles and never missed her favorite show Jeopardy which she became quite good at.
Gloria was always a beautiful woman and a real girly girl. She loved clothes, shoes, purses, makeup, and getting dressed up. She always looked well put together with great style. Gloria had a glowing vibrancy and warmth about her. Friendly with everyone she ever met, Gloria loved to talk and never passed up a chance to have a good conversation with people. She loved life, loved laughing, telling corny jokes, singing little ditties her daddy taught her which she passed on to all the kids and grandkids. Gloria never let on if she was ever feeling down and if she ever was, she would say, “if I don’t laugh I’ll cry.” That was her way of making the best of every situation. An extremely giving person by nature, giving the smallest thing to someone made her feel good. Most of all, she loved spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were her proudest accomplishments. Bragging about, doting on, adoring, and cherishing all of her family members with continuous words of affirmation and love was her way. Everyone felt so loved by her, and she was so loved by everyone.
Gloria is survived by her two sons, Robert and Richard Wald; two daughters, Suzy Moriarty (husband Sean) Donna Lorden (husband Kevin); nine grandchildren; Travis, Trevor, and Tyler Wald, Savanna Wald, Courtney, Taylor, and Haley Lorden,
Ian and Eva Ozimec, two great grandchildren Kasper Ferguson and Logan Wald; two sisters Edith Weiss and Roslyn Heit; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Gloria will be laid to rest beside her loving husband at Harbor Lawn – Mount Olive Memorial Park in Costa Mesa.
