OBITUARY

Gregory Kiraly Mitton

November 22, 1977 – March 17, 2022
Obituary of Gregory Kiraly Mitton
IN THE CARE OF

Fairhaven Memorial Services

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Kiraly Mitton on March 17, 2022. Our beloved son, brother, and uncle will be missed for his loving heart, playful banter, and dedication to his family and friends. He was a warm and caring soul, with so much to give, making friends everywhere he went.

His life travels began on Long Island, New York, where he was born in November 1977 to Donna and Larry, bringing up the rear behind his two siblings, Kersten and Gary. This clan of five made their way around the world together, living from East Coast to West, as well as several stints in Europe. He graduated from Homestead High School in Fort Wayne, Indiana, before continuing on to Ithaca College, where he graduated in 2000 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, and adopted one of his many nicknames, ‘Indy.’

Post college, he landed in Southern California, building a career in Software Sales including roles at Sage, NetSuite, Oracle, and most recently Xactly, where he was consistently complemented for his commitment and charisma. He leaves behind many friends up and down the West Coast, who were so much more than colleagues.

As those of us who love him reflect on the impact of his life, we are most aware of how meaningful his relationships were. He was always ‘showing up’ for those around him: from threatening his nieces’ suitors if they came too close, to losing embarrassingly to his nephews on video games - quintessential Uncle Googa. From taking deep sea fishing trips with his father to dancing in the living room with his mother, he was always fun and full of life. He loved trips out East to see his Sister, lunches with his Brother, brilliant banter with his Sister-in-Law, and baseball and hockey games as often as he could. The Rangers were a cornerstone to his joy, and he has the swag to prove it.

He will be remembered by so many who have already shared their pain at his early departure, but with so much love for all he meant to each of us. It will be difficult to forge on without him present, but we will do so carrying his generous and loving spirit with us wherever we go. That’s what he would want.

Greg is survived by his parents, Donna and Larry Mitton of Beaumont, California; his sister Kersten Mitton Rivas of Wilton, Connecticut, and brother Garrett Mitton and wife Amy Smith Mitton of Laguna Hills, California; Niece/Nephew, Aliana and Jackson Rivas; and Niece/Nephews Julia, Gabriel and Ethan Mitton. He is predeceased by his maternal grandparents Albert F Kiraly and Eve Kiraly Toner of New York, and paternal grandparents Reverend John P Mitton and Marcia Tyson Mitton of New York.

Greg has been cared for privately with Fairhaven Memorial Services, Mission Viejo and his Celebration of Life will be held at the Mitton Residence on Saturday 3/26/22.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Greg’s name to Ronald McDonald House Charities (www.rmhc.com) in honor of their supportive role during Greg’s own childhood health challenges. They were a blessing at a difficult time, and we are keen to return their support to help other families in need. A testament to a guy who would give the shirt off his back for others.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.fairhavenmemorialservices.com for the Mitton family.
