James Orban Borden

Jim was born and raised in Sewickley, Pennsylvania, graduated from high school, Lindsley Military Academy, and earned his B.S. degree in civil engineering

from Virginia Military Institute in 1965. During his 4 years, Jim's back stroke earned many points for the VMI swim team A lieutenant in the army, Jim

proudly served 2 years in Korea. Upon completion of his military obligation, he pursued a career in geo-technical engineering moving him to many states,

east to west coast, to work on various projects He retired 10 years ago in San Clemente, California with his beloved wife Tina.

Jim enjoyed a competitive game of tennis. He and Tina met on the tennis court . . ." a love match " . He was also an avid golfer learning the game when he

was quite young from his father, both enjoying gentle competition. With more freedom in retirement, Jim had time to use his artistic talents designing

intricate colorful wood Christmas ornaments. For many Christmases, he created these for his grandchildren and children and for his sisters and nieces and

nephews. These are treasures and will cherished with love, remembering Jim.

Multiple Sclerosis affected Jim*s health but he continued to challenge himself finding a new activity - bridge. He thoroughly enjoyed playing bridge

at Aegis Assisted Living and the San Clemente Senior Center. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Tina. Friends could easily witness Jim's twinkling eyes

and dimpled smile when Tina was insight ... she was his strength and care giver when his physical well being was limited by the progression of MS. He is also

survived by three sons and one daughter, 9 grandchildren and two sisters and their families. All will mourn the loss of Jim, a good-natured kind man

with a big heart and smile.

A Memorial service will be held at St. Clément's by-the- Sea Episcopal Church, 202 Avenida Aragon, San Clemente, Ca. 92672 on Saturday, June 3, 2017 at 10 am.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to St. Clément's by-the Sea Episcopal Church and the San Clemente Senior Center..
