

Jerry Wayne Long, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on September 18, 2025, at the age of 81. Born on October 3, 1943, in Nashville, Tennessee, Jerry grew up in Nashville, Maryland, and Colton, California, shaping a life rooted in service, creativity, faith, and love for his family.
Jerry proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1961 to 1967. Following his military service, he embarked on a long and dedicated career with Southern California Edison, where he worked from 1967 until his retirement in 1996.
A man of deep faith, Jerry lived out his beliefs through service, generosity, and compassion. He found joy and fulfillment in his many passions: woodworking, performing in theater, and serving his community. He was President of the Auxiliary Volunteers for St. Bernardine Medical Center and a board member and performer with the Junior University Theatre Group, always offering his time and talents to causes that brought people together.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife, Kathleen Long; his children, Scott Long and Jennifer Long, LeighAnne and Sean Schuyten, Steven and Hemali Long, and Melinda and Matt Espinosa; and his cherished grandchildren, Thomas, Deven, London, Alexander, Maxwell, and Henry. His legacy of faith, love, laughter, and generosity will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, October 2, 2025, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Laguna Woods. Interment will follow on Friday, October 3, 2025, at Riverside National Cemetery, honoring Jerry’s service to his country.
Jerry Wayne Long will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to family, his steadfast faith, his commitment to service, his passion for creativity, and his vibrant presence in the community.
