I miss Jesus, because he was unique. He taught me patience and perserverance at work.

I had the privilege of working with Jesus at Santa Ana College School of Continuing Education and at North Orange Continuing Education. At both schools, he taught the class next door to mine, and many of his students became my students as they moved up. We would talk often during breaks and help one another out. He was very passionate about teaching and always came to school with a great enthusiasm. I know his former students always spoke of him fondly when they joined my class. Jesus Moreno Aguilar was loved and admired by his students, and by all of us who worked with him. His work and dedication have meant so much to so many people, and I will always remember his kindness and support.

To the family of Jesus Moreno:

Jesus was a very dear colleague and friend. He really loved teaching and helping the students in any way he could. He was also dedicated to you, his dear family. Travel was his passion, and he shared some of his adventures with us, especially with regard to his last trip to South America. He was so adventurous!

With all this quarantine and isolation from our colleagues since March 2020, I wasn't even aware he was ill. So, this news came as quite a shock to many of us. This is not only a loss for you, his family, but for his colleagues, and especially, his students. He was truly a good person and kind to all. We will really miss him.

As the Dean responsible to oversee ESL, I had the opportunity to work with Mr. Moreno. He was an excellent instructor who cared deeply for the language learning of his students. As a second language learner himself he understood the challenges faced by immigrant students. Mr. Moreno undertook the afternoon ESL time slot (consistently the lowest attended of all time slots) each semester. He would build the attendance numbers from single digits to 20+ students through sheer determination, effort and excellence in teaching. As an administrator, I appreciated his passion for teaching and his dedication.

I was Jesus' colleague at Santa Ana College for nearly 20 years. Even though we were in different academic departments, every interaction I had with him over the years revealed him to be kind, reasonable, authentic and friendly. The world can use more people like Jesus. His passing is a loss for us all.

Jesus was such a great teacher. He always made his students laugh, and he engaged them with his dynamic and interactive teaching style. He was able to bridge their understanding with language in a way that only a true educator has the expertise to do. Thank you for always caring for your students, Jesus. They carry your kindness in their hearts. We'll miss you!

I am very saddened by this news. We were co-teachers together and he was an inspiration to me because he was always willing to help. I know that he was a happy-go-lucky teacher and was always giving tremendous advice. We use to sit together every year at our annual picnic by the lake at Centennial. Mr. Moreno and I shared great memories and he inspired me to keep pursuing my educational goals. He was really good with computer skills and shared with me that he had been working at Samueli Academy in Santa Ana. I am shocked and did not know that he was ill. I salute my friend and may he rest among the heavenly angels. I will continue to teach in his honor. ESL For Life!!!

At our teaching site, we often ate in the break area and I was amazed at Jesus's variety of dishes he brought and shared. Once, a teacher I did not know gave me an unexpected hug, thinking I was Jesus, because we often dressed similarly or our hats made us resemble each other. He was that approachable. I used to linger around his classroom to garner some teaching tips from the ol' pro. I now realize what a jewel he was and still is for us.

Through many years of working as a faculty member at North Orange Continuing Education, Jesus touched so many lives! He has been a patient and kind teacher and a supportive colleague, always positive and encouraging, willing to share his expertise with his fellow faculty and step up to take on extra projects outside his teaching assignment. During the pandemic, Jesus helped so many students access technology and thrive in an online learning environment. He will remain in our hearts as a passionate teacher, wonderful colleague, and a caring human being.

Jesus had a huge heart of gold, especially for friends and family. I was fortunate enough to call him a friend for several years. He was one of the kindest people I've met. He would give anybody the shirt off his back. I have many wonderful memories of him taking me to try new foods and dancing at country bars. Jesus had no fear asking a woman to dance while I sat at a table petrified to ask a woman to dance. Lol. RIP and dance in Heaven, mi amigo!!

Jesus was one of the closet people in my brother's life, a true compadre. Every time Jesus attended any family gathering at my mom's house he brought laughter and true joy!! Oh and the best guacamole our family had ever tasted. Boy, could Jesus cook!! One of the kindest human's I have ever met and I appreciated how he was always there for Blake. Jesus, you are not physically with us anymore but your footprint will always be carried in our hearts.......a life well lived my friend. Love Dana Pederson

POEM: The loss of a brother and friend
It doesn’t seem possible that you are no longer here
No longer of this only existence, this flesh and blood world we know of…
A surreal numbness has overcome my being when my mind reflects on
the happy times we spent together, especially when the stark realization hits me like a freight train that these good times can’t be repeated….

Being with you my brother, always felt as if I were on a vacation!
No matter what we did or where we went, I always had a carefree and delightful time
For you were a person whom I could confide in
You were the one I could thoroughly enjoy being in my own skin around
You were the friend who truly understood me!
Yes, I have other friends and acquaintances, but it is not the same.
They can’t replace you because you are irreplaceable!
You were a complete human being – whose honesty and integrity radiated through your every word and action
You were a beacon of genuine light and your authenticity shone through your smile and every utterance
You never once said anything to me that wasn’t real or heartfelt,
Even in jest you were more authentic than 99% of the rest of humanity!

Loss of this magnitude is impossible to wrap one’s mind and heart around!
The world will not be the same without you in it!
And I won’t be the same because your loss has changed me forever!

Mi tío Chuche un tío siempre presente en nuestras vida y pendiente de uno!!! Una persona excelente, le gustaba mucho disfrutar de la comida típica y los frutos que se dan en nuestra región!!!

When I told him what I was going to study next he got so happy and told me how proud he was of me, this diploma will be for you Tio Chuche! You will be there in spirit once I receive it and I know you will be smiling for me

The picture I have selected is my favorite picture of him as it truly captures the person he was!

Forever in our hearts my Tio with the best fashion sense! Love you Tio Chuche
